According to The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that Toy manufacturer Hasbro wants a slice of that Movie Pie that Marvel has been reaping tons of revenue from thanks to their hugely successful films. Hasbro has assembled writers for their very own Cinematic Universe which consists of their toy intellectual properties; GIJoe, ROM, Visionaries, MASK and The Micronauts. (Fucking, Yes!!)
“Michael Chabon, who wrote the novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay and worked on Spider-Man 2; Brian K. Vaughan, the creator of seminal comic works Y: The Last Man and Saga and showrunner of Under the Dome; and Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel co-writer Nicole Perlman, will help develop a plan for the creation of an interconnected onscreen universe featuring Hasbro’s G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries, M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) and ROM brands.”
Allspark Productions (Named after the Macguffin, “Allspark” from the Transformers Movie) has recruited Black and Women artists to that will offer diverse perspectives as well as honoring female empowerment. This is a bold move that may help to set the precedent for Minorities and Women who are known to have less opportunities within the field as compared to their Caucasian male counterparts.
Now if only Allspark will produce a really good G.I.Joe Movie that will not only treat this IP with care and utmost respect, but also make everyone forget about the bastardized Rise of Cobra. Yo,Joe!
