    This should be interesting!

  • Tarmac492.1

cool. Downloading this for a listen while I butcher another movie article tonight.

  • Tarmac492.1

    Harry Knowles as a tag?

  • Tarmac492.1

Vegetable Lasagna Meets Peach. To quote the late, great Apollo Creed from the Original Rocky. “Sounds like a damn monster movie.”

  • Might be linked to the other tag “what is a bad person”

  • A Movie

    Cool!

  • Just got to your book excerpt

  • The Cairo Detective-trilogy. When will the movie rights be sold?

  • Bruce Dern is 79

Next time I will not use the nosy parent software. I apologize for the poor recording. I’m learning, though!

  • Zissou Memories

In 22 weeks I have become slightly more adept at this wacakdoo podcast stuff.

  • Skype seems to always bring some audio surprises up front

  • Zissou Memories

I was going to do a Marc Maron intro for the episode but it came off a little too Marc Maron-y.

  • Zissou Memories

I’m in favor of having Peach become a regular on the show. Instead of the interview format. What say ye?

  • Zissou Memories

I’ll direct them. First order of business is it’ll be the Omaha Detective and be about Rooney Mara.

  • Considering that your regulars appear somewhat sporadically, you can never have too many regulars

  • Page one rewrite. Sounds like a movie adaptation all right

  • Zissou Memories

Chris was on a roll there for a while.

  • Zissou Memories

I bet it’d be fun to make it into a movie with Peach. Or like a web special.

  • KICKSTARTER!!!

  • Zissou Memories

Let’s get it into pre-production. Where’s the damn script?

  • A Movie

    All right! *high fives IAB*

  • I like this quote so much I upvoted myself

  • A Movie

Putting out books 1 and 2 today for bare minimum price. As low as I can make it.

  • A Movie

    Tough room.

  • Zissou Memories

Are you doing the adaptation as well or do we need to get some NY playwright under contract?

  • A Movie

First you should read the books.

  • I don’t think that many shows do the 24-episode season anymore. Just the 200 different NCIS shows.

  • Zissou Memories

I read the first one because it’s the only one I could find.

  • Zissou Memories

    Money in your pocket.

  • A Movie

Buy a pack of cigarettes first though because it’s high octane reading.

  • Zissou Memories

Did anyone watch Duchovny’s new show?

  • Zissou Memories

    Which kind?

  • “Aquarius”? I guess so, if it was renewed. It’s interesting – Puck told me that after they showed a couple episodes, they put out the whole first season available via streaming.

  • Zissou Memories

Well I don’t know what the sales are like but I’m thinking it wouldn’t turn off the target audience.

  • Zissou Memories

A Peach action figure has to be in the works, right?

  • I actually have no idea. I cant even afford the StudioHEAD coffee mug.

  • Zissou Memories

Your product is only for the elite.

  • Oh, fuck – that reminds me that I need to do a comic for tomorrow….

  • One for all his Disqus handles?

  • Zissou Memories

A tall order. But worth doing.

I would donate some coin for that. Or at least some strip cub funny money.

  • Tarmac492.1

Is one side of a mug enough for his meanest comments? Better be a big mug.

    Looks 97

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    You’re not a bad person…let’s ask Ava about that…

  • Zissou Memories

    Who is Ava?

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

…Really? I wasn’t even trying to be subtle about that reference.

  • Zissou Memories

    Robot Ass?

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Yeah, let’s go with that.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Gran Turismo. More of a Mario Kart guy.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Haven’t even read the first one yet. Really should.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Oooh, we gettin’ franchised here, resolvin’ stuff in the third book.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Django Unchained. Still a good movie. Put down the Coors.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

I am probably like the only one who hasn’t read The Hateful Eight script.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Centauri looks down at you for skipping to the end, Peach.
    http://application.denofgeek.com/pics/film/tlsf06.jpg

  • Tarmac492.1

I never read scripts beforehand. Dont like it ruined for me.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    I’m like that too.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Unless it’s never gonna get made in which case, yep, reading it.

  • Tarmac492.1

    True.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

I don’t hate Reservoir Dog but it’s his first film so eh…Michael Madsen scene is probably the best thing about it.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Oh c’mon, don’t judge the harelipped prostitute, Peach.

  • Jess

Love it cause I think I’m just ahead of your comments 🙂

  • Tarmac492.1

Such a cool title for a film. Havent listened yet, but I dont find Pulp Fiction to be that rewatchable. The Trvaolta/Thurman stuff is a bore for me now. I like the Willis stuff and the last section is still good. For me, Jackie Brown, I can watch all the time.

  • Jess

    Jackie brown is my favorite

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Zissou’s list of directors who are in a weird funk:

    Spielberg
    Anderson
    Tarantino
Others that I can’t think of at the moment.

  • Tarmac492.1

Maybe DeNiro;s last really good performance?

  • Zissou Memories

That being said, I think Inglourious Basterds is better than Wes Anderson’s recent stuff and for sure better than Spielberg’s.

  • Zissou Memories

Django’s in that Grand Budapest category I think.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Ouch.

  • Jess

Hmmm. What year? Is it cause you don’t like his switch to comedy in later years?

  • Zissou Memories

Both pretty, great on a technical level, but greatest hits albums.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

I remember liking it when I watched it the first time. Hmm. But I just felt a little bit apathy at the end.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    That’s just me.

  • Zissou Memories

Woody Allen is in one as well. No one in the world will agree with me but I think Scoop was his last great movie.

  • Tarmac492.1

97 I believe. DeNiro was great in the original Meet the Parents. I just cant think of anything afterwards. I liked his The Good Shepard but for directing.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Let’s add him.

  • Zissou Memories

Whit Stillman maybe. Damsels was a huge step down from the 90s trilogy.

  • Tarmac492.1

    I actually like Cassandra’s Dream.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Zissou gettin’ shit done.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNACHO!

  • Zissou Memories

I liked that one as well. I can’t remember if that was before or after Scoop. I think Match Point is hugely overrated. Not bad but too derivative of Crimes and Misdemeanors.

  • Jess

well I never knew his younger stuff until fairly recently and seeing that stuff it makes me sad to watch him flail about now.

  • Zissou Memories

I never listen to these things so half the time I don’t know what these comments are referring to.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

You workin’ on a bunch of stuff, like a screenplay and a new book.

  • Tarmac492.1

Match Point was good. Agreed, not worthy of the ridiculous praise heaped upon it. I think all three were made within two years of each other.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

LOL, romance novel….what, he’s really writing one?

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Make it Lovecraftian and you might have something.

  • Zissou Memories

Midnight in Paris was good but didn’t quite have the emotional connection it needed to click. I liked You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger more than most people too.

  • Jess

I like vampires though that’s cool

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    OVERSATURATED MARKET.

  • Zissou Memories

Him talking about it is like if Jane Austin had written Pride and Prejudice and Zombies while writing the original novel.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    *guffaws*

  • Jess

    Emotional connection? Really

  • Tarmac492.1

was just going to say Midnight in Paris didnt do it for me. I really liked Blue Jasmine. Blanchett was great as one of the more twisted characters ever in a movie. Plus the Cannavale factor. I am very fickle with Woody. I find many of his characters loathsome and not always entertaining. That is why I steer more towards Baumbach.

  • Jess

Oh shit ronin I wanna see yer comment here

  • Zissou Memories

The fiance was too cartoonish. The plot became too predictable instead of feeling emotionally honest.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Vampires again?

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Western trilogy?

  • Jess

It’s always a circle. Soon back to witches….

  • Zissou Memories

Baumbach’s great. I’m very excited for the new one co-written with Gerwig.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Like a Louis L’Amour kinda thing?

  • Jess

    Isn’t that the point?

  • Zissou Memories

Magic in the Moonlight was a low point of his recent stuff.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Gee, give Zissou some more ammo on the fantasy genre….

  • Zissou Memories

That he’s not being emotionally honest and deluding himself? I would say yes until the ending where he runs off with the new girl in the present day.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Maybe give Heinlein a chance, Peach. I’m sure the two of you will see eye to eye.

  • Tarmac492.1

I need to see while we are young. Frances Ha was great and great looking. Squid and the Whale is a masterpiece, I think. He doesnt have too many misses.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Rama?

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Okay, not Rama.

  • Zissou Memories

Most would say Margot at the Wedding and Greenberg were misses but I really like those as well. Greenberg especially.

  • Jess

That it’s what it’s really like. No one is honest, no emotional connection and fill in the blank. I dunno. Feels like how it is.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

DO IT IF YOU WANT TO,

  • Jess

    S&W was awesome

  • Zissou Memories

Did you think the movie was trying to say that at the end? I thought it was trying to say he learned his lesson, just in an ineffective way because he didn’t. I didn’t see the commentary there.

  • Tarmac492.1

I am 43 and can relate to Greenberg, I think. Definitely not a miss for me. It is about what could have been on some levels which is very cool and very sad.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Because I don’t want to get my book wet. That’s why, Peach.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Here we go with golf again…

  • Jess

Honestly I don’t think he is introspective enough to see how he comes across at all and he even doesn’t understand any of it. But that’s me. I only like scenes and clips not whole movies of his.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

He’s been trying to get away from Metal Gear for so damn long. Before that, he did Body Snatchers (Blade Runner lite), Policenauts(Lethal Weapon IN SPACE), and Zone of Enders (the most normal of his works).

  • Zissou Memories

I think his 70s and 80s stuff were full of introspection and a lot of those movies worked because of how well he understood the way the character comes across versus what he wants to be. Hannah and Her Sisters especially.

  • Jess

Sweet. That was cool. Maybe I should check out more of this stuffs

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

He basically takes 80’s action archetypes and tropes and tears them apart. Whether you like that or not is the subjective.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

McAdams is always an under the radar actress.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

I make these games sound bad but I’m terrible with description.

  • Zissou Memories

When is he going to work with Chris Eigeman again? The inability of people to make that guy work is a terrible thing.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Yeah, Vaughn is ridiculous.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    *subjective

  • Jess

Yeah he got lucky and rode it 🙂 I didn’t watch too much of them as a kid and only went back here and there. So you probably have better grasp.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

But if you can get past how over the top it is, it’s really good.

  • Zissou Memories

    Frankly he’s apoplectic.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

The acting really draws attention to how off kilter that dialogue is.

  • Zissou Memories

“By all means, find friends” got a laugh out of me.

  • Jess

You two should do one and go at it. Fun!

  • Zissou Memories

I think he’d be good if he was given a real human type of character.

  • Tarmac492.1

Seriously. Need to bring back the glory days of the 90’s Indie cinema. Need more Hartley, Stillman, good Jarmusch(he is really hit or miss for me). I would kill for some great flicks like Laws of Gravity(lost in the Tarantino avalanche) and stuff like that. Gonna do a Trust write up, but afraid to start it. Maybe next week.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Didn’t he start out playing as a serial killer? Psycho remake?

  • Zissou Memories

Probably not something he wants on his resume.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Sorry Scott, but I agree with Zissou. Peach needs to be a regular.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

I think Van Sant wants to forget about Gerry but I dunno….

  • Zissou Memories

If I can somehow manage everyone’s schedules this will be great.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    Great show, guys.

  • Zissou Memories

    Are you next?

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • Zissou Memories

    Well then.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

All right. Maybe. You never know. If Peach can do it, maybe I can too.

  • Zissou Memories

Takes no work at all. On this show anyway.

  • Turd Has Escaped The Gravy

Of course, the irony of this statement – given this man’s namesake – is strong. Bwahahahahaha!!!!

  • Abe

    That was Anne Heche.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

I’m a casual fan compared to you and Better.

  • Dr. Geiszler, Kaijuologist

Maybe. Maybe not. Just commenting on how Peach can be fickle sometimes.

  • Well he is Better lol. If you have a season in particular you think you’d be good for just let us no. We have 2 guests lined up I think, but would like 2 more, so we can alternate between a show with a guest and shows with just us up until the original series is done (3 guest, 4, 5 guest, 6, 7 guest, 8, 9 guest? or something).
