It was a pleasure to burn.

  • Tarmac492.1

Speaking of burning things. How much time am I looking at to burn my office down in the middle of the night? Does concrete burn?

  • Tarmac492.1

will listen tonight or tomorrow night and roam the talk back beforehand with useless and borderline racist commentary.

  • Infinite Zissou

Only one way to find out.

  • Tess

A bunch of geeks will save the world ha ha. You guys are funny 🙂

I have a cold, not your fault. Did I miss the winning lotto number?

  • Tim R.R. Something

Middle age: one long interrupted nap.

  • Tim R.R. Something

    Nice tune at the end.

  • Infinite Zissou

    Spared no expense.

  • franks_television

I like Blue Velvet. Not sure how I feel about unusual neighbors. Would depend on the nature of their unusuality.

  • Infinite Zissou

    Interesting analysis.

  • Moonriver

Sure hope you keep your podcast going! Love it! It’s always interesting and entertaining as hell.

  • Moonriver

Soggy margherita popcorn and ergonomic scones. OMG…
Taco Tuesday Movie Phenomenon: let’s get your scone on!

  • Moonriver

My take away from celcius 451 was that, like many of his works, it was annoyingly sexist. It would be interesting to read again.

  • Tim R.R. Something

Seems unsophisticated by today’s standards, maybe because it was pulp?

  • Tim R.R. Something

    I don’t know what I’d bitch about.

  • Infinite Zissou

No women in the nerd colony at the end either it seems.

  • Infinite Zissou

We just need Chipotle sponsorship or whatever now.

  • Moonriver

(Sometimes I use it to fall asleep too, but it’s always with a smile on my face!)

  • Tim R.R. Something

    SeaWorld. I hear they’re desperate.

  • Infinite Zissou

I aspire to making a good show to have on while you’re doing the laundry and not paying attention.

  • Infinite Zissou

You may be onto something there.

  • Tim R.R. Something

    You’re thinking of NPR.
“Today on Fresh Air Terri talks with Costas Gapalapokastas, the celebrated Greek author of ” My Awful Disease

  • Moonriver

I’ve grown to really like it, actually. I should comment more but it’s hard to think of the stuff I laughed at or thought ah-ha about and articulate a relevant comment after the whole podcast.

I was glad the day I figured out the open in separate window link.

  • Tim R.R. Something

    SHE’S FAKING IT!

  • Moonriver

Nah. Not how I roll. 🙂

  • Moonriver

Okay, okay… after the whole podcast AND my nap. Better? 😉

  • Tim R.R. Something

    More sophisticated.

  • Tarmac492.1

I am usually the unusual neighbor.

  • Tarmac492.1

I like to try and be a good neighbor too. Pass out drunk quietly and tell the hookers not to pee on the neighbors lawn when they leave. Harmony.

  • Infinite Zissou

Do you get that Kurt Anderson show on the weekends? He’s the worst.

  • Moonriver

Maybe NPR Omaha will host it! 😀

  • Infinite Zissou

    8 hour show 5 days a week.

  • Infinite Zissou

    A model for us all.

  • Moonriver

Not even you can be that long-winded.

  • Infinite Zissou

Haha no. We’d just get annoyed and angry at each other.

  • Moonriver

Know your limits! Good man, Zissou.

  • Tim R.R. Something

No, but I know the type. Folk music with analysis I just despise.

  • Infinite Zissou

I want to get like Greta Gerwig or Rooney Mara on and just hang out on the air.

  • Tim R.R. Something

As long as you don’t leave empties all over, it’s none of my business.

  • Infinite Zissou

We need this to be popular so we can hold live Vegetable Lasagna recordings. With live studio audiences.

  • Infinite Zissou

    No change otherwise.

  • Tim R.R. Something

You could call it A Prairie Home Companion

  • Moonriver

That could last a while. I’d love to chat with you guys if I ever came through NE! I’d watch a film and everything!

  • Infinite Zissou

Kind of like that. But no singing.

  • Infinite Zissou

And Altman will likely never make a movie about it.

  • Infinite Zissou

    Everyone is invited except Kandric.

  • Tim R.R. Something

Somebody needs to tell Garrison he can’t sing.

  • Infinite Zissou

He could get in touch with the times and auto-tune.

  • Moonriver

I might pay to hear that…

  • Infinite Zissou

Well when you put it like that.

  • Tarmac492.1

Im there–drunk and half asleep first row.

  • Infinite Zissou

    Perfect!

  • Moonriver

You’re so good at getting the last word in a meandering conversation– a trait I thoroughly enjoy exploiting!

  • franks_television

    It’s all in my book.

Also! You’re not supposed to leave the debit card!

Calling the bank seems like the best idea.

  • Moonriver

Cover your license plates, wear disguise and pump a tank of gas guessing at the zip code. Then, destroy the card. Otherwise just destroy the card or, if you take it to the bank you can just send it up to the drive thru and they will take care of it.

  • Infinite Zissou

I’ll see if it’s still there tonight.

  • Moonriver

I would never bother with a 1-800 number I didn’t absolutely have to call. That will jade the philanthropy right out of you. Furthermore, it never really made sense to me why they put that on there in the first place because if you lost your own card how would you have the number to call? I guess if you stole it and had remorse you could call that number and say hey I stole this card.

  • Ever heard about podbean and stuff?

  • Infinite Zissou

Haha I get the sense we’ll get the axe fairly quickly if you take over the site.

  • YOU started with talking about hosts.

  • 😉

  • Infinite Zissou

    Tight ship and all.

  • I am the gangster boss who pats your shoulder and says it’s alright, we all make mistakes.

  • Infinite Zissou

Yeah before taking me out back and shooting me.

  • Infinite Zissou

We will not resort to podbean.

  • Infinite Zissou

    Like savages.

  • good good. you seem to know your place

  • Infinite Zissou

I hear you won’t even keep the purple wallpaper.

  • Infinite Zissou

We recorded the show uncertain of whether SN has a future more so than any active interest in switching.

  • okay okay. bad nerve day

  • Will listen soon. Working on tomorrow’s comic. Introducing a new character

  • Less highbrow, more Stallone-movie gangster boss.

I knew there was know way that I’d hear that Can song, “Vitamin C” as your opening.
    Too expensive.
BUT, I had that song on repeat for
49 minutes, as I got super fucking high, listening to my “VL” homies.
    Good show.
I was kind of on the edge of my seat, waiting for the shoe to drop.
    Waiting for bad news.
“Get sconed & watch a movie!”
Even though I’ve never eaten a scone, or even know what the fuck they look like.
That line made me fucking laugh.
You smoke weed & love the smell!
    Ziss, you weed denier!
    Booze gives dudes bitch tits.
    I just finished listening.
    I normally listen on my,
    “VL Wednesdays”.
I didn’t know what the situation was.
    Things seem stable, good.
I’m imagining you have the highest rated podcast.
I know I’ve been a listener since the jump.
    Don’t leave.
Just put on some guests that know SOMETHING about film!
    Seriously.
I’m about to go all, Tim R.R up in this piece!
CELSIUS, the most informative thing I’ve ever heard Chris say!
Every time you ask Chris about a film or book.
    & he hasn’t seen it.
    Very frustrating for the listener.
If he hasn’t seen what you mention.
He should have a 5 minute time out, & turn off his mic.
That way, we can listen to you speak on the current film or films like the great, “Citizen Ruth”.
How the fuck has Chris not seen THAT?!
“Blue Velvet”, at least he’s seen ONE classic.
    Yeah, finish “Twin Peaks”, please.
Another world that has sooo much potential that should be talked about.
    Especially now.
I’m on page 352 of, “Infinite Jest”.
A book that is on some bullshit list, along with 24 other books that everyone should read.
Books that I’ve read, & you & Tim have read.
    Chris…..Kyle MacLachlan!
    C’mon Man!
    Chris…..Stephen Colbert!
    C’mon Man!
    We stick with “John Oliver”.
    My girlfriend was all about
    Jon Stewart.
She ditched it when he bounced.
    I liked “The Colbert Report”.
Haven’t, & will not watch “late night talk shows”.
    Other than, “John Oliver”.
    “The Martian” is FUCKING GREAT!!!
    & is amazing in 3-D.
For the love of christ, please see some films.
    “Sicario”….Denis Villeneuve!!!!
I’ve mentioned this film NUMEROUS times.
It opens this Thursday, get on it!!!!!!
    Thailand?
I’ll pay for you both, to come visit the Canadian Prairies.
Keep ’em coming, Ziss & Chris.
Time to smoke more weed & hit the dog park.
    Peace Out.
    P.S.
I bet Chris still doesn’t have a disqus account yet.

    HA!

  • Yes, Mr. Head will have a secretary. And yes, she is as pissed off as she seems.

  • Sagamanus

If I ever see you in real life Zissou, I’m warning you. I’m bloody warning you. I will shake your hand.

  • ponyboy_360

    Ice-packs & weed.
    Just got home.
Waiting for my hockey team to play.
    Just saw this.
    & laughed & laughed.
    Had to post.
I’m sorry, just from what I read in the “dojo”.
    This seems apropos.
    HA!
    (…)

  • ponyboy_360

I’m short on time & phone battery.
But here you are, so I gotta post.
    You mentioned “problems”.
    You, more than anyone.
    Know my personality & peccadillos.
    You’ve smoothed beefs.
& stood up for my points, on personal matters.
Kept people aware that I’m not a fucking monster.
I’ll never have problems with you Sags.
I just like to take the piss.
Take any post I’ve recently sent you as a joke between friends.
My shit doesn’t flo like yours.
    Ha!
    What I mean is.
Reading your posts is analogous to watching
Yngwie Malmsteen play a guitar solo.
Gotta do me, & get ripped before my game.
    Peace Sags.

  • Sagamanus

No problem dude. It’s not like I was going to explode over a post or anything. Perhaps it was something I said. I don’t know, a lot comes down the pipeline. And as for my brother, well. We have similar tastes in everything. Especially for films. I wouldn’t say we’re the same, we most certainly aren’t, but there is a hell of a lot of overlap. If he likes or hates a film, or is indifferent, we’re probably going to agree.

  • ponyboy_360

    I love you Denise.
    Gotta bounce.
    2 minutes until hockey game.
    You know.
    Canadian stuff, eh.
    Cheers.

  • “wanna go out? I have a podcast….”

  • Here, all the payments by ANY card require a pin number, so….there’s really no one else that could use it besides the owner

  • “Screening theatre”….?

  • What the hell was that thing – “scaring people to be intellectuals”?

  • Just screen the rest of the “Twin Peaks” episodes in your screening room.

  • “Interstellar-prequel”….. LOL

  • Infinite Zissou

Chris does not have an account but he tells me about his plans to make one regularly. Haha for whatever that’s worth. Maybe after 45 weeks? Glad to hear The Martian is good. I’ll try to get over my aversion to the trailer’s sass. Agreed about Last Week Tonight though I’ll definitely check out whatever Sam Bee’s show is supposed to be whenever that starts. And how do you pronounce Sicario? Hard C? I still haven’t seen a trailer but I’ll definitely see it.

  • Tim R.R. Something

    He is.

  • ponyboy_360

    Ha!
I love to take the piss.
    Outa Chris!
But it would be fun to interact with him, truthfully.
    OK.
I’ll say “The Martian” is a fucking blast.
As long as you go with someone who is enthusiastic to see a Scott film…..or just a “big budget Damon film”.
    In 3-D.
    It’s DEFINITELY not Scott’s best.
But for an entertaining & enjoyable time at the theatre.
    I’d give my recommendation.
    Mos def.
    As for the trailer.
It’s ASS, not sass, don’t let that deter you.
    Yeah, I forgot.
    Sam Bee, Canadian.
    As you well know.
Hilarious, yeah, we just might give that a shot.
    Has it aired yet?
I have friends who saw “Sicario”
    at TIFF.
    For real.
They said it was fucking balls out.
    I’ve been preaching Villeneuve FOREVER.
Again, if you get the chance.
    Watch, “Incendies”.
    Here’s the trailer chief.
    Honest question.
    Are you a fast reader?
    I’m a guy that will re-read pages.
I always say, I like to take my time, & “paint the scene”, in my head.
    “2666” was really flowing.
As I said, I stopped at Part 3.
    To jump into “Infinite Jest”.
Now, I love this book so much.
But I feel I’m just slugging my way through.
I always try for a certain page count everyday, for whatever I’m reading.
At this pace, it’s gonna take me into December.
Also, I didn’t know you liked “Drood”.
    I fucking LOVE that book.
    My first Simmons book was
“The Terror”, which I fucking flipped for.
I read it like a film, had every character cast…..just awesome details & facts, mixed with a little “supernatural”.
Thus my enthusiasm when “Drood” came out.
    Couldn’t put it down.
I then read, “Black Hills”, which I thought I’d hate.
    Another great read.
“Flashback” was another one I loved, seriously.
    “The Abominable”, I loved.
    A lot hated.
I think he has a new one out,
I’ll have to get that, if he does.
Taking disqus breaks, has got my reading game back on track.
    Cheers.

  • ponyboy_360

    Ah shit.
    Blame it on the weed.
    My above post.
Was supposed to be my reply to you.
    Not a new post, ha!
    My bad.

  • I read Simmons’ “Song of Kali” last spring and it scared the shit outta me.

  • ponyboy_360

    Sweet!
I do have a few of his earlier books in paperback.
It’s just that my to read pile.
    Is HUGE.
    While you’re here.
Do I know this Full Frontal guy?
Is he an alt, or a SN.
I’m so fucking backward on these things.
    He replied to me.
But I’m not sure how to respond.
Now to check out your art.
    Peace.

  • Full Frontal comes from AICN, I believe.

  • ponyboy_360

    Thought so.
    Thanks man.

  • ponyboy_360

    Hey, “Mortgage Potatoes.”
    I hear you like Godard.
    Here is a signed
    Criterion Collection copy of,
    “Contempt”.
Signed to me from Jack Palance personally.
My old boss produced one his films.
It gets played every Xmas in Canada.
    “Ebenezer”.
My old boss became Palance’s “son”.
When his real life son passed away.
My old boss would always stay with the Palance’s when he was in L.A.
I have a ton of Palance stories.
Palance also signed “Shane” for me.
I brought my best friend at the time.
    I lived in Calgary then.
To meet Palance, as my friends last name is Palahniuk.
    Jack Palance’s real name is.
    Volodymyr Palahniuk.
    I knew this
    already …..commentaries people!
Palance flipped out when I told him my friends name.
He was old & a little frail at the time.
But his posture & demeanour changed, when.
    He signed “Shane” & “Contempt”.
He was like, you know your film son.
But when I told him my friends name, he lost 20 years instantly.
& told us great film stories.
From when the time film was God.(ard)
    Super nice man.
Even though he was cast as the villain.
    Anyway.
    Peace Sags.
Gotta charge battery after all this.
    Peace Out.

I became a Simmons fan for life after reading “The Terror”.
Again, the real life facts mixed with a taste of the “supernatural”.
    Great characters.
I know some who don’t like the
    “ice-beast”.
But it got me to anticipate the release date for “Drood”.

  • ponyboy_360

Well, I hope I didn’t over hype it.
But if you go with Aubrey.
I think you’ll both really enjoy it.
    That’s my hope.
    We did.
    & the cast, cinematography,
3-D, Sir Ridley & The Damon.
    We’ve been watching,
    “Project Greenlight”, so we see
    “everyday Damon”.
Tryin’ to help make a film Damon.
    So we may be biased.
    For real though.

    If that means anything.
    Hope you dig it!

    Stupid 3 Act Structure.
    As for books.
I LOVE to take my time.
I have all of Cormac McCarthy’s
    books.
& when he writes entire chapters in another language.
    I’ll read that.
Word for word, even if I don’t understand the language.
In my OCD mind, I’ve always said, it’s out of respect for the author.
    I know Peach hates
    “Blood Meridan”.
But, I’ve read that, at least a dozen times over the years.
Franco, did a fucking great adaptation of “Child Of God”.
    I own that.
    For what that’s worth.
    Cheers.

    S true gentleman.
His wife, whom I met a few times.
    Was basically his handler.
She was the sweetest lady you could ever meet.
    Peace.

    The way he pronounced it.
It wouldn’t be a problem today.
    Just look at the diversity.
It’s just like pronouncing a foreign hockey player.
    You get used to it.
    Immediately.
    Cheers bud.

    “Mortgage Potatoes”.
    Is all yours chief.
I just had to use it when he mentioned Godard.
Check out Puck’s “Slap Shot” article.
I mention how great of a D-man Sags really is.
    You should watch that film.
    Seriously.
    Newman is pure fun.
    Great performance.
“Strange Brew is the best Shakespeare adaptation.”
    That was a GREAT post!
    Peace.

“Slow day for dead baby news?”
    THANK YOU!
    THAT’S what I’m talking about.
At least someone had my back!
That’s why I posted that picture down thread.
    The Dr. Phil picture.
Soooo original to mock the way I post.
    When did it SMASH CUT.
To us friends talking film & taking the piss.
    To people OLDER than me.
WITH kids….or a football team of kids.
But in this case, acting like their children.
Coming together as a unit, to go make fun of celebrities dead children.
    Or something fucking JUVENILE
    EVERY DAY!!!!!!
    They are adults!
I’m making money all day, not fucking wasting time & in some cases, days.
    Online.
    In what’s become a fucking
    Carnival Sideshow.
If one even mentions anything film related.
    It gets buried.
I really don’t give a shit what people at the “not dojo” think of me.
It seems that if you reply Pffffft.
    To someone.
They go into a deep depression & constantly use Pfffft, I guess, in retaliation?
    Who knows.
    I don’t fucking care.
    So, thank you homie.
You’ve always been top shelf to me.
    Peace.

I’ve never really paid attention to what they’re commenting on until the recent ones and then I actually looked at the comments on the article about the baby that was thrown out the window and it’s been difficult to ignore since.

I find that it’s difficult to speed-read a book when you can tell the author slaved over each sentence. I’ve not seen any of Franco’s directorial efforts but it surprises me that COG was good. The trailer looked. . .cheap but your recommendation sparks my interest.

Slight change of plans. I’ll be seeing Sicario in about an hour here and may not see The Martian until later this weekend. Interesting that both of their new movies come out this weekend.

Drood’s ending is so good. The book started to drag a bit for me in the last 200 or so pages but the way it pulled everything together was beautiful. I don’t know whether to call it a twist or not but it made me want to start the book over again right away.
