Justin Lesniewski

Justin talks about how he’s honing his skills to prepare him for a career showrunning and his projects: How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, Welcome to the Midside, and his work as a nerdcore (artist).

Topic One: The Theory of Irrelativity

Are entertainment sites relevant at a time when entertainment opinions are machine gunned at you via Facebook, Twitter etc? The conversation also delves into what the importance of community sites hold, if any.

Topic Two: The Glass is Half Legal

The MPAA recently banned all wearable tech like Google glasses from theaters nationwide. Good idea or jumping the gun?

Topic Three: Is a Cigar Ever Just a Cigar?

Do we always have to view movies through a political prism?

Over/Under
Goonies
Ducktails
Smart Watches
Bill Belichick
Ayn Rand

The Supernaughts

  • JML 4 LIFE

  • Oh Lord.

  • Yeah, fuck it!!!! Words to live by!

  • Tim something

My name is Justin and I am an aspiring producer/showrunner and I am currently living in a box behind Bonanza Buffet. Chicken nuggets never go bad.

  • Tim something

That’s a joke. LAUGH DAMN IT!

  • Ha. Ha. Ha.

  • Tim something

    That’s a fake laugh.

  • Yeah, I get most of my news on Twitter. But I think Entertainment sites, like the one Scott doesn’t mention by name, the rascal, are important for the community/discussion aspect. Having a group conversation on Twitter is next to impossible and Facebook is just lame as fuck.

  • The Willard

It’s always been about the conversation.

  • It is a very real laugh and I will reenact it on the next episode of Pulp Propaganda!

  • Tim something

And the written format adds a certain mojo.

  • Yeah I’ve noticed that it’s pointless to discuss on twitter. It’s an incoherent mess

  • Tim something

I’d rather see interview a raccoon.

  • The Willard

And for some reason you always only see parts of a conversation.

  • It’s not meant for that purpose.

  • And the limited number of letters –> more segmented comments –> nightmare

  • Yes, JML is right. There needs to be more opinion/discussion starters in the news articles. Just copy/pasting the news or rewording it doesn’t do any good. I’ve actually mentioned this to Finn in the past, that I think opinions should be in the News to differentiate PE, and I believe it’s going to go more in that direction now.

  • True. I just post renovation photos

  • We don’t have raccoons. Maybe a sloth though…

  • But that is also the aspect that was heavily critcized on AICN.

  • Tim something

Zombies? Aren’t you worried they are over with?

  • That’s what I’d be worried about

  • The Willard

    Fuck the MPAA!

  • Entertainment sites ARE important. It’s about the communal aspect, like cinema.

  • Yeah, I’d have some ideas for entertainment sites innovations, if just someone would listen.

  • Scott says the same.

  • They are so important there’s thousands upon thousands

  • You know my email!

  • I’ll come back to that!

  • Yes, but they overdid it and thus why we went away from that originally. Straight news first followed by the writer’s brief opinion to close the article is the way I’d like to see it done.

  • It’s about the angle… You have to find a niche. And the people you want to appeal to, have to know about that site.

  • Sagamanus does that very well.

  • Yup. The Garcia chap is OK too.

  • MPAA hates vision impaired people

  • Movie theater tickets are pissing me off so much nowadays. Fuck ’em.

I can literally go see a live, professional ice hockey game here for cheaper than the cost of an IMAX ticket. FUCK. THAT.

  • Couldn’t agree more. The pricing for, what I feel, is an inferior product compared to what I get at home is crazy.

  • The Willard

Why doesn’t Dio want to name names?

  • “I hate to agree with anybody….” lol

  • Do it.

  • He has a bad memory.

  • That’s a classic RJD line, if there ever was one

  • Peroxide.

  • wtf is this novel concept of thinking?

  • But the diversity is the appeal of a user-generated site.

  • Tim something

Movie Theaters may go the way of printed on paper news. Tech is making them obsolete. That’s why we’re seeing experimentation: some places are installing recliner seats, actual recliners mind you, and serving food and drinks right to your seat during the film.

  • The Willard

I wouldn’t know I do it the old fashioned way.

  • The Willard

    They won’t disappear. No way.

  • That’s what “featured content” is there for.

  • I think we’ll see them scaled back. Like we’re seeing with newspapers now

  • The Willard

But Goonies has nearly continuous panty shots in it.

  • really?

  • The Willard

I hadn’t seen it since I was a kid and when I watched it again two years ago it blew my mind.

  • Politics….. I just fucking hate that stuff

  • He blew something else too

  • The Willard

I think we may see more specialization. That might be good.

  • You and me both.

  • The Willard

    Same here also.

  • Dammit make the popcorn fresher!

  • Fuck yeah DuckTales, it’s the bomb!!!!!!!!!

  • The Willard

I always get it without the “butter”, that helps.

  • Politics has crippled humanity

  • The Willard

    I loved it.

  • The thing is about that anti-piracy campaigns is you put an authoritative stamp on it which is not sage if you are in the entertainment industry.

  • Can’t wait to start watching it with the kid. Right now it doesn’t hold his attention much past the intro song. He’s at the “gotta have music” stage.

  • Elaborate?

  • And there aren’t any wheelchair accessible ramps

  • Ba dump tsssh

  • Maybe I fumbled the formulation. If you put a disclaimer before the move that says “Piracy will get you into prison”, everybody is pissed, because you just paid to see that shit and they are already berating you for no reason? The film-makers are entertainers and therefore should serve you, not talk down to you. It creates a shitty atmosphere.

  • I see. I can’t argue with that really. However, I will say the audiences I’ve seen those warnings aren’t pissed. They think it’s funny.

  • Follow up. Hollywood very much talks down to the rest of the country already. Right or wrong, they view themselves as better than the rest of us mouth breathers.

  • Just another sign of disrespect- deserved disrespect.

  • The Willard

Anne Frank or Ayn Rand? Same diff.

  • You are talking about preachy stars?

  • Tim something

No, but it could end up like Opera, or Symphonic music: a thing priced and tailored for the enjoyment of an elite.

  • Yes that, but I also think that view permeates the attitude toward the actual films they’re making. Like Justin talks about Into Darkness’ allegories. What kind of people put together that sort of message/product?

  • I’d say Transformers is not allegory, but it IS military propaganda

  • The Willard

I think you’re right. I will really make the experience special though.

  • The Willard

JML’s pretty good on a podcast.

  • Goonies is underrated til’ the day I die

  • The Willard

    HEY YOU GUUUUUYS!

  • I know what you mean. I think there has always been content like this in movies. Movies reflect their times: Rambo is also a allegory for the Vietnam trauma. But I agree, nowadays they just do it in such a clumsy, heavy-handed way and worst of all, from an assumed elevated position, it’s sickening.

  • He has good points and explains his positions very well.

  • Never say Die!

  • The Willard

    Absolutely.

  • That is interesting take.

  • I thought you were supposed to Never say something else?

  • Well, Bay is constantly showreeling the military’s newest toys in it

  • Never seen Ducktales. No opinion

  • Tim something

    I found sloth deeply disturbing.

  • Are we talking about Goonies now…?

  • The Willard

    Oh yes.

  • “I don’t like being lectured.” Agree.

  • Don’t use watches. Don’t know about NFL….

  • I was so tempted to log out and give you a second guest vote for that one. Gold!

  • Orci and Kurtzman are cute when they are trying to be clever.

  • The Willard

    That’s one word for it.

  • Cannot agree about Cap2, that was a good allegory.

  • It was just an exceptionally good film. I don’t even see allegory in that one

  • JML WINS LONG LIVE JML

  • It’s a good allegory how hostile powers can rise in your country almost unnoticed. It’s a timeless message.

  • The Willard

Good show guys. I loved the bleep.

  • What bleep?

  • The Willard

    Ha ha!

  • The Willard

    Yeah it was refreshing.

  • Goonies are rated just right.

  • The Willard

    Probably.

  • JJ Abrams

    My boys!!!

  • I think the problem is when writers try to work in particular events.

  • Nobody can deny it’s a great movie for kids that also adults can enjoy.

  • But some of the latter episodes of Duck Tales… rather bad.

  • I don’t think I’ve ever watched the show chronologically so I’m not sure what’s old and new.

  • The Willard

    Plus panties for the creeps.

  • The Hoff was wearing a smart watch before it was cool.

  • The Willard

    Driving a smart car too.

  • Was the bleep for giggles or you guys legitimately don’t like PE? Don’t make me promote the site in the comments!!!

  • There was a bleep?

  • Tom Brady is a member of the Brady bunch?

  • Yes he is

  • I’ll bleep yur face da once now m’son.

  • I knew.

  • Billy Jack is definitely underrated, agree.

    http://cdn2.thedissolve.com/features/593/fullwidth.ce87278d.jpg

  • “what the hell do they teach you people in the South?” LMAO

  • I think we all ask that after every episode

  • Please never include the question “Is Anne Frank under/overrated”

  • I think we can avoid that one.

  • That’s what I said! But I had to cut the episode down

  • (for some reason, the pumpkin pic doesn’t wanna change)

  • Can I leave multiple messages? One in newfienese, one in death metal grunts, and one in regular voice?

  • [BLEEP] OMG, that was harsh lol

  • As many as you want. I try never to censor anyone.

  • never announce shenanigans

  • Scott really has the quickest wit of all

  • Evil.

  • I’m tellin’ dad.

  • The recorder does not work for me.

  • Oh well.

  • Message sent

  • Is europe once again shut out?

  • It shouldn’t be!

  • Thank you!

  • does it not work for you either?

  • I mean – that “stroke”-comment from the SUK cast STILL has me snickering

  • I didn’t try it. I wouldn’t know what to say

  • Just try it. You can cancel it before submitting

  • Disqus is going all fuckerydoodle again….

  • *scratches off Anne Frank from next over/under.*

  • Mostly for giggles. 🙂

  • Then it’s not news, it’s opinion. You wouldn’t put an editorial on the front page of a newspaper and call it news.

  • It’s much easier when you have lists for specific topics.

  • News + editorial. It reports the facts first, then offers a personal take. Just plain old news serves no purpose IMO when you can just get that from whoever reports it first (variety, deadline, etc.) and generally speaking that’s not going to be a site like Pulp Epic or even AICN or the many others like it nowadays.

I’m speaking from the perspective of a community with comments of course. I’m going there to see what real people think, not some corporate stooge, so if a writer who’s not on the take wants to share a few thoughts in the article after the facts, that’s cool.

  • It’s like I said on the podcast, if I go to a site for news, that’s what I want, if I want opinion, that’s what talkbacks are great for. I don’t need someone to interpret a story for me. I’m speaking in general, not PE specifically. Keep in mind that was drilled into me in my college journalism classes. News should be objective.

  • Can I say that’s one of my favorite lines and not sound like a douche?

  • I get that. If I go to a site for news specifically, I just want the news too. Like I’ll follow a link on Twitter to Variety or Deadline or whatever, read the news, and that’s it, that’s all I need from them.

But if it’s a site that I’m going to comment on that’s reporting the news, I don’t care if they add opinion after the facts because it might give me something else to comment on. In turn, the writer might then respond or explain further in said comments, which I would expect from a site built in such a manner. This additional layer of interaction is what I’d expect from a non-corporate news site.

  • lol just noticed Ducktails

  • You can be non corporate and still follow established guidelines for writing, whether it’s a news story, etc. One of my biggest gripes with bloggers who call themselves journalists, usually without any background in it, is the need to inject their opinion. Comments are the place for opinions not a straight news piece.

And I understand that’s my own particular issue, but it’s something I’ve always tried to do-even in the few straight news stories I wrote for TB.

  • sure

  • Also very true. It all comes down to what the goal or mission statement of the site is I guess. If it’s just to report news, then it should be just that, news. That’s fine.

From a personal standpoint though like I said, with all the competition out there (and increased use of social media to simply get the news), reporting just the news isn’t going to get you anywhere or differentiate a site from the millions of others. Hell, even injecting opinion alone isn’t much of a differentiator as tons of other sites do that too.

  • Episode two I say slates name in death metal.voice

  • You know hire I feel

  • Over rated

  • Ppl who dint laugh at that have no sense of bleep

  • I think I had it until the “anne” question

  • I loved cap 2. It may be my movie of the year

  • The Ayn Rand rant.

  • Thank you.

  • I knew one of the guys would make orci

  • I think I saw a review of a ten year old movie the other day. It was two paragraphs. It was also the second review in a year of the same movie. Really? Weren’t not even trying

  • Slothra

I already entered into the contest.

  • Slothra

    Is that Blathering Blathersnake?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    What was THAT opening rap?

  • Slothra

    JML is a legend…

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    He fucking raps?

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    All right I’m here!

  • Slothra

He thinks he does. He uses the term loosely.

  • Slothra

“I am the king of the universe”?

  • Slothra

Orange County? Go join a ska bad, asshole!

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    What?

  • Slothra

    His words. Not mine.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

I know. I just can’t believe I heard those words from him.

  • Slothra

TV is and always will be inferior to cinema. Deal with it.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    That fucking show-off……….

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Different format so it’s not fair to compare.

  • Slothra

It is easily comparable. Do you see Emma working in television. No! Because she’s above that shit.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

There’s a couple things probably lacking, JML, mostly around your head. BOTH heads.

  • The Willard

But then he said “just kidding” so we know that’s not what he really thinks.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Not really. A lot of great shows are on TV.

  • Slothra

A webseries! I can’t wait to avoid that!

  • Slothra

    Enough is enough!

  • Slothra

    More fucking zombies?!

  • The Willard

Now now, Emma, let’s play nice.

  • Slothra

    But they aren’t film.

  • The Willard

I’m a diamond in the rough!

  • Emma’s Revengeance

A fucking webseries? Those are free and even then, I won’t bother watching it.

  • Slothra

The “just kidding” was a joke.

  • Slothra

    I never say “die”

  • Emma’s Revengeance

That fucking Cunt didn’t play nice and I wasn’t EVEN playing with him.

  • The Willard

    Like I was a Goonie.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    *sigh* ……………………………We know.

  • Slothra

Slothra has zombie fatigue. Zombies are not the “ultimate horror monster”.

  • Slothra

And when I start to fly

  • The Willard

    I say Quackaroonie!

  • Slothra

    (Quackaroonie)

  • Slothra

Entertainment sites stopped being relevant the day Slothrop joined the fray.

  • The Willard

    My mistake. Have at ‘er!

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    *eye roll*

  • Slothra

I’m drinking in my boots. Is that the same thing?

  • Slothra

The community has gone mobile. We do not stay on one webzone.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Ain’t it Cool?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

You guys like hopping all over the place?

  • Slothra

    Slothra is a social butterfly.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Oh God, shut the fuck up, JML. It’s impossible to tune you the fuck out with that voice.

  • Slothra

The way to remain relevant is to ignore the news and focus on movies that are being otherwise ignored.

  • Slothra

Dio!!!!! Flood it with interesting people and retro reviews!!!!!

  • Slothra

    Twitter limits discussion.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Yeah, flood everything!

  • Slothra

Fuck expertise. The “experts” are wrong.

  • The Willard

Booger makes a good point about that though.

I fear the spreading out of ourselves is only the beginning of the end. Without a central hub to rally around we will drift and wither.

  • Slothra

Fuck Lost! And fuck people who talk about “Lost”!

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    But aren’t you an expert?

  • Slothra

    The Willard Zone?

  • The Willard

That show had only one thing going for it. The she-elf.

  • Slothra

    No.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Yeah, you are an expert, after all………………..

  • Slothra

Everyone’s opinion matters. Read the fucking Manifesto!

  • Slothra

I hate going to the mall.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

An expert on David Lynch? You did a thesis on the guy. That makes you an expert in the group.

  • Slothra

On Lynch, yes. In general, no.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Really? I love going there. I can get what I find there! Well, most of everything.

  • The Willard

Clearly that place is dear to me but obviously we need to support the evil man’s site if we are to survive. Re/Public at least can be something of our own. Kinda.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Yeah, except for those who write for the “establishment,” make pods, and comment on articles. Fuck em.

  • Slothra

Very few people are actually informed. Without a basic knowledge of film history, your opinions on cinema are null and void.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    Expert. So…………………………………………you’re wrong.

  • Slothra

    You’re starting to catch on.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    I was being sarcastic…………………..

  • Slothra

I fucking hate editors. I’ve been stuck on the back page for months. But I still drive traffic!

  • Slothra

    No, you weren’t.

  • Slothra

    Slothra is never wrong.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

But without an editor, you’d be like Smeyer.

  • Slothra

I’m turning it into Sloth’s Poetry Corner.

  • No, outsiders can bring interesting perspectives.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    The article is self-contradictory.

  • Slothra

    My shit is not edited.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

But you are an expert and experts are wrong but you are never wrong? Right?

  • Slothra

I disagree completely. The fundamentals are essential.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

King needs help. He works with editors, mang.

  • Slothra

I know. I wrote it on a napkin. It was a joke.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    I upvoted him ironically.

  • Slothra

I’m the exception that proves the rule.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Yeah. So it kinda doesn’t matter………….

  • Slothra

    I’m not writing a novel.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    No exceptions.

  • The Willard

    I approve heartily.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

But he does write for EW sometimes.

  • Slothra

It garnered more comments that pretty much anything else on that webzone. it matters.

  • Slothra

    Just one.

  • Slothra

    Does he?

  • Godzilla Fanboy

But you said it doesn’t matter. And you automatically get more comments when you fart.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    Yeah.

  • Slothra

The seats suck! Throw out anyone using a phone! No fucking children! Then I MIGHT go back.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    Nope.

  • Slothra

My farts are keeping that site afloat.

  • People do get comments sometime when they fart

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Bloody morons talked during About Time.

  • Slothra

The theater would be great if it wasn’t for all the fucking customers.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

I guess IAB, Dee, and Puck aren’t doing enough then.

  • Slothra

I’m making a video of me listening to this podcast.

  • Slothra

You do not have a “wheelhouse”.

  • I’m on a hiatus until the Retro section opens

  • Godzilla Fanboy

As long as you don’t charge a buck for it.

  • me?

  • Slothra

Dee and IAB are essential. We need the fucking trifecta to keep things going.

  • Not enough farts?

  • Slothra

    Me too.

  • Slothra

    Eat more beans, Dee.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Kinda make yourself sound like you’re doing all the work. And Sags. He’s doing stuff too.

  • Slothra

Batman fights because people pay money to watch him fight.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    But I should still write?

  • Slothra

News is pointless. I stand by that eternally.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Even though you said you keep the site afloat.

  • The Willard

    Please do.

  • Yes you did. You’re the man!

  • Slothra

Not until Retro opens. Didn’t you get the memo?

  • Godzilla Fanboy

So Sags is working pointlessly? That’s what you are saying?

  • Slothra

    I’m the Sloth!

  • Godzilla Fanboy

And why should I bother to write then?

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Nah you said keep on writing.

  • Slothra

I’ve told him to focus on retro reviews. But he won’t listen. His Sword of Doom article was excellent.

  • You wrote about new stuff – “The Fury” – that’s relevant

  • Slothra

    Just a joke.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    I upvoted Sloth ironically.

  • Slothra

I will wait for Retro. I don’t cover new stuff.

  • Slothra

    Movies should not lecture.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

All right. I’m just saying that Sloth isn’t a one man working machine. It’s a team effort.

  • If you are we will feature that on the home page and all the pages.

  • Slothra

    I never said it wasn’t.

  • The Willard

    I know.

Although remember when I said I was going to do a commentary podcast over top of Peach’s podcast?

  • Dang it

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Just shut up and write.

  • Slothra

    I lack the necessary technology.

  • The Willard

    You don’t have a webcam?

  • The Willard

    Not. At. All.

  • Slothra

STITD is about ‘Spolisions. not Bin Laden/Bush. Asshole.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

………………………………..Fuck. I hate to agree with JML, but this 9/11 conspiracy stuff is getting on my nerves.

  • Slothra

    Nope.

  • Yes he does. I’m watching him through it now. Me and NSA

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Uh it was pretty heavy handed on the symbolism.

  • The Willard

    Is your computer from 2003?

  • Slothra

Audiences are so fucking lazy. I hate them. I will not be a part of them until they get their shit together.

  • If that’s all that’s standing in our way I can remedy that situation.

  • *Edited*

  • Slothra

If you have to ride an amusement park ride to understand a movie, that movie is a failure.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Almost hard to do that without the subconscious butting in.

  • Slothra

    Butts are acceptable.

  • The Willard

    Or his comprehension works differently.

  • Slothra

    Pretty much…

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    No?

  • Tim something

Nice, we have the Emma Watson upvote factor again here.

  • Slothra

    yes.

  • Slothra

    Emma is a vote-slut.

  • Slothra

    Sloth does not refresh.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    BOO!

  • Slothra

    Goonies: Under.

  • Slothra

JML is pissing me off every time he speaks. Dio is not helping.

  • Slothra

    Ducktales: under.

  • The Willard

    I find him very articulate.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

I don’t appreciate being called that.

  • The Willard

Dee and I decided it was rated just right.

  • Slothra

Dio? I just disagree about Goonies.

  • Slothra

    Maybe.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Goonies is underrated. Don’t care what you think JML.

  • Sloth. There’s an audio recorder and a phone number for you to rebuttal

  • Slothra

    Vote-ladyfriend?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Love Ducktales. Under.

  • Slothra

Let me finish listening. Maybe. My brain says no. The PBR says yes.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Nah I’m just fucking with you!

  • The Willard

I want to prank that so bad but I haven’t done a prank call in nearly 2 decades.

  • Slothra

Smart watch: Over. I wear a Rolex.

  • Slothra

Who in the cunting fuck is Bill Belichek?

  • The Willard

No JML I think is articulate. Dio has a great accent.

  • Billy Jack?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

He is still such a cunt.

  • Slothra

Maybe. Dio’s accent is great. I wish I had an accent. It only comes out when I’m very drunk.

  • Slothra

No. I know who Billy Jack is.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    I have no clue.

  • Slothra

    Let’s do another shot!

  • The Willard

I think he ran Channel 8 in UHF.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    YAY!

  • Slothra

    I want a Twinkie-wiener sandwich.

  • The Willard

Look up! Look down! Now look at Mr. Frying Pan!

  • Emma’s Revengeance

I don’t really watch American football.

  • The Willard

I thought you called it soccer.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

I thought that’s what they call football over there.

  • Slothra

This shit has turned into fucking SportsCenter! Watching Football changed JML’s life?!?!?!

  • Slothra

    Fuck Ayn Rand! Over-rated!

  • isnt he a cheating coach who got away with it ??

  • When everyone’s talking and no one is listening. How can we decide?

    -Stephen Stills

  • The Willard

That’s why my joke is funny.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

The man is a fucking legend.

    Time to demystify that legend.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Yep. She was so fucking mean.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Hello!

  • The Willard

    Deep, man.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Why don’t Americans call it that?

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    Ayn Rand is overrated.

  • Slothra

    JML: Over-rated.

  • Oh yeah! The joint just got classed up.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    That’s not an opinion.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    THAT’S A FUCKING FACT.

  • *Ding* *Ding*

  • Slothra
  • I think people should accept the fact that all games are rigged. You live better if you solely see it as a well-staged show.

  • Tim something

368 comments, this thread has been hijacked.

  • Hey.

  • Just like wrassling

  • Just been on twitter?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    FUCK YEAH!!!!!!

  • Slothra

I am always in multiple places.

  • well said

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    How’s it hanging?

  • Or razzling

  • Slothra

    SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!

  • Wasn’t Hydra trying to do what they failed to do in WW2, and Cap was trying to ……stop them…..

  • That’s what Razz does. That’s not rigged

  • The Willard

    By podpeople!

  • He looks a bit like Bryan Cranston with a face lift.

  • Slothra

No. It was 9/11. Don’t question Captain Quackaroonie.

  • yes

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    Nice.

  • The Willard

    I saw that too.

  • Tim something

Years ago a woman I was after tried to proselytize about Ayn Rand. Those Randians aren’t right.

  • whats a 9/11 ??

  • True. Razzling is always sincere.

  • Agreed

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Man, good thing you got away.

  • Did you dump her?

  • The Willard

    My dad’s a fan.

  • Slothra

It’s the 11th day of Spetembler.

  • A convenience store.

  • Slothra

    It’s 2 better than 7/11

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Fuck, she stops the whole fucking novel to write a fucking filibuster. That was her whole fucking point.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    What are YOUR errors, JML?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Are you still talking?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Why is he still talking?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

ONE OF YOU INTERRUPT HIM, FOR FUCK’S SAKE.

  • I don’t know anything about these Duck stories

  • Emma’s Revengeance

FINALLY. Thank God for RJD. Whoever he is.

  • Same here

  • The Willard

Have you ever been at a website where everyone pretends they don’t torrent? Pretty funny.

  • Slothra

They don’t teach us anything down south.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Yeah, they are different. But Ayn Rand is such a bitch.

  • It’s like with wanking.

  • Slothra

No one is listening to The Midside. I assure you.

  • The Willard

    It’s exactly like that.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Don’t you lie.

  • i’ll never buy an apple i can’t eat. And i have not worn watch for years now.

  • Slothra

“Stealing a movie & then writing a bad review of it is like raping someone & then complaining that the sex wasn’t very good.”

  • I’m off the torrents. Direct downloads and streaming sites.

  • who said that?

  • The Willard

    Who said that?

  • Only used my phone’s watch for like 9-10 years now

  • Slothra

The Soskas. they tweeted it just now.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Oh God, I can’t imagine listening to your pods. I would rather remake Twilight with myself as Bella than I would listen to your podcast.

  • Same for me. At least 10 years now.

  • The Willard

I still have Netflix. I also pay for streaming music. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

  • what a level-headed statement

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    What?

  • Slothra

“Stealing a movie & then writing a bad review of it is like raping someone & then complaining that the sex wasn’t very good.”

  • Slothra

    I can’t disagree with it.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

This civil war thing sounds really epic……………

  • Slothra

Stop talking about football and comix! No one cares!!!

  • you also torrent

  • Godzilla Fanboy

I don’t care about the football thing much.

  • Slothra

Sometimes. But I never complain afterwards.

  • I only do it in the dark

  • pfft

  • Slothra

    Pulp What?

  • We try and stay within the guest’s “wheelhouse” 😉

  • The Willard

I’ve only had a cell for maybe four or five years, but certainly I don’t need a watch. I never wore one before I had the phone!

  • Emma’s Revengeance

I guess they work hard on their movies.

  • I’ve heard claims the audio screwed up there. I’ll investigate.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    What was that bleep?

  • Slothra

They do better than most. You should consider working with them. It would mean living in Canada for a bit though…

  • I tell time from the sun mostly

  • The Willard

Yes and I always feel really bad about it.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    I’ll consider it.

  • I’m still learning my way around multitrack editors. Clearly I screwed something up. A bleep….

  • I cry afterwards

  • The Willard

You can stay at my house!

  • Slothra

I heard a Beep. Pulp Epic is trash though. The real action is in the Re/Public.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Another thing from the army, eh?

  • please identify yourself

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Emma Watson?

  • a/s/l

  • Yes. I also know the most effective way of peeling potatoes and moving stones from one end of an island to the other

  • Emma’s Revengeance

I hope you fix it to prevent future mistakes. Other than that, great pods, fuck JML, and I’m off.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

I don’t know what the hell that means.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Oh yeah, they will drill that into you until you can do it in your sleep.

  • Demagog Dog

    He’s hitting on you

  • Emma’s Revengeance

Hello, don’t think we’ve met before?

  • i dont know what hes podcast are like but im listening to last weeks shortly.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    Man, why?

  • wrong at willards everyone pretends they are wanking but dont

  • Demagog Dog

That’s because the gloryhole hid my identity

  • hell save everyone of us

  • I saw you there.

  • the ” rant ” at the end … we normally dont speak we just let the guest talk

  • Emma’s Revengeance

I don’t do gloryholes because I’m not doing it in the restrooms but you’re a funny guy!

  • Demagog Dog

Don’t you have to have good ideas to be a showrunner?

  • Slothra

No. There are plenty of shitty shows.

  • The Willard

    A nice touch.

  • Booger T

i dont even know how to torrent

  • not on the walking dead

    either way good one.

    5 points slytherin

  • The Willard

It requires a lot of science.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Man, that’s really nice of you.

  • Demagog Dog

CBS…you’re about to change your call letters to JML!

  • Booger T

i thought you guys were going to argue. this is nothing but polite discussion

  • Ironman will not be a villain ( for more than 15 minutes )

  • Demagog Dog

    God bless the comments section

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Yeah this is pretty tame.

  • Demagog Dog

I’m still rockin’ my Swatch Watch

  • Booger T

silly. the movie exists independent of you and the quality of it has nothing to do with whether or not you paid for it.

  • Tony Starks point of view in Civil War was based on fact and the world they were in then and there. Steve Rogers point of view came from beliefs. Faith if you will. In the end , they both turned out to be wrong.

  • Demagog Dog

Maybe someone should actually rape them. I doubt they’d make the same equation.

  • Booger T

marvel thought mark millar was a good writer. they turned out to be wrong.

  • Demagog Dog

    lol

  • Booger T

they may have been at one point, but the ultimate horror monster must carry mystique and unfamiliarness with it. everybody knows the ins and outs of zombiedom and they are therefor no longer scary. even all the zombie stories nowadays do not portray zombies as the villains, but instead the opportunistic humans in a zombie situation

  • Demagog Dog

    I liked Nemesis, and Kick-Ass 1…

  • Demagog Dog

    “Not every voice is worthwhile”

    Finn JML

  • Booger T

i liked about 50-70% of kick ass, just like mostly all of his shit he ruined his own concept. thankfully they fixed it with the movie

  • “The individual act of obedience is the cornerstone not only of the strength of authoritarian society but also of its weakness.”

    – Kirk Cameron ( maybe )

  • Demagog Dog

Newspapers and magazines dying has nothing to do with the “cherry-picked” content. It’s just slow. No one wants to wait a day for news, or a month for a magazine article. News is instant now. Period.

  • Demagog Dog

    a double edged bloody sword

  • we dont have featured comments here.

but by gawd this should be one

  • Demagog Dog

The Kick-Ass 2 movie was garbage. It undid the reality of the first movie and negated the entire point of the series!

  • thats the best description of civil war ive seen yet.

im still going with Stark, because Reed Richards is the smartest man in the world

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Fuck anybody who thought the first movie was watered down garbage. That applies to the second movie.

  • Demagog Dog

Why not? It’s a standard part of disqus

  • Booger T

    kind of like Rambo lol

  • The Willard

    Yeah he’s lying.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Man, I just wandered the streets at night after watching it.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    Eh……………………….maybe.

  • it was a huge money maker and thats what these events are all about. also they retconned out the biggest things like caps death and spidermans unmasking

  • Demagog Dog

The first movie is fantastic. Loved Nic Cage’s Adam West impersonation.

  • Booger T

fundamental fuction issue: he’s only as smart as the guy writing him

  • sad but true

but in the context of that world he is supposed to have all the right answers and if he thinks registration is worth it , im with stark and reed.

  • i have my top men looking into it.

    top. men.

  • also newspapers and magazines were a dying medium , but they are actually not dying as fast as that once were. unfortunatley

  • Demagog Dog

I think it’s a difference of thinking with your brain and your heart…logic vs. love. Sometimes scientists leave out the human condition in their calculations…

  • did you listen to it all ?

there may be 45 min of ” lost ” footage which contains RJD talking about the Existentialism in Batman Begins, the diff between philosphy and politics, and a superman rant at the guests superman article

  • Booger T

and that was the point wasnt it? i felt they were trying to portray reed as being incorrect for once

  • Kick-Ass is fun.

  • Booger T

no. I have a pretty low tolerance for podcasts. i got about 30 minutes in i’ll try to pick it up again later

  • Demagog Dog

JML envisions Google Glasses becoming “Pop-Up Video” in the theaters?

Anyone who needs more than what the director is showing you to enjoy a film is either short on IQ points or just a tech-junkie asshole. Neither of those reasons are good enough to interrupt the theater-going experience.

    JML: 0 – 339,404,003,204

  • dont get we wrong i think it was hamfisted but … i think it can and will be done better. i just hate getting civil war without spiderman, reed and sue, ect

  • Like Magneto and X.

  • Booger T

I’ll check out Kingsmen secret service even though it looks like a flamin POS but since vaughn did such a great job with KA i have to give it a shot

  • i can go either way on it. it might be really cool. or i might be crazy. the cast is really great though.

  • looks very generic

  • Demagog Dog

yeah, i guess so. it was refreshing to see power corrupting the Illuminati group…

  • gotcha.

there is more debate near the end.

the first 30 is top loaded with guest questions,

you cant really argue with someone when you ask them about their projects …

  • Demagog Dog

Vaughn knocked KA and First Class out of the park. I liked the Secret Service comic too, but I felt like the concept was bigger than just a 5 issue mini-series. It was too condensed…

The movie…I dunno. Colin Firth is a fine actor, but he’s a little too old to be a Playboy 007 Spy. The kid actor is a no-name…might shoot them in the foot…

  • yeah, we should all just accept that its a watered down version. But of which comic is still not known. I hear they are doing another one next year. I don’t know why…. But the movie thing with Cap and Ironman alone will not be the Civil War we want.

  • i thought the point was that he was an older spy

the director has a good track record. hope its better than the trailer

  • Demagog Dog

I have faith Kevin Feige will make it worthwhile…no, they can’t use Spidey, X-Men, or FF…or revealing secret identities…but I know they’ve come up with an angle that will pay an homage to the comics while making it appropriate to the MCU

  • Demagog Dog

In the comic, he’s drawn like Bruce Wayne

  • theres not enough heros unless they pull in the tv show ppl. and bring in lots of ppl in a short amount of time.

and villians … ugh how do we care if punisher kills a bunch of supervillians when we havent ever seen them ?

  • Booger T

first class is substantially worse upon multiple viewings IMO. but there is a lot to like about it

  • I don’t know if its the same thing. What i hate about the Magneto character now ( especially in the movies ) is that he is not the villain he should be. I liked the whole Malcolm X / MLK thing they originally sold it as in the first movie, but Magneto should really be more of a villain. Now i don´t know what he is supposed to be.

The feud between Cap and Tony seemed like a difference of opinion on how to reach the same goal, while Magneto and Xavier had seperate goals all together. Im not very caught up on current x-men comics, but whats going on in the movies is not sitting well with me…

  • its a good name !

  • It’s still the best X-Men movie.

  • we need a wrasslin episode

  • I see.

  • please

also an audio reorder on the site that is free

    do it

  • Booger T

no that title clearly belongs to Origins Wolverine

  • drink mmore

  • awww thanks

  • Slothra

I’ll see what I can do.

  • or him….Punisher i mean.

Yeah, it just seems a little desperate to do Civil War now. Even Secret Wars wouldn’t work that well until they have all the players. And they are rehashing that story next year also.In the comics.
The cool thing about Secret Wars was that the Beyonder actually brought back villains from the “dead”, so that is an option.

  • True!

  • Hello

  • im laughing and i cant stop

  • Demagog Dog

I don’t think it’s going to matter much longer, since “The End” is coming.

Over the years, Magneto has gone back and forth from being a terrorist to teacher, arch-nemesis to teammate.

And don’t even get me started on how Marvel fucked up what Grant Morrison set up for Magneto in New X-Men…

I’m not too current on their storylines either, but I know Cyclops killed Professor X (his, what, 7th time to die?) and they kind of set Cyk up to be the new Magneto…

  • thelazycunts.com that dont write articles

  • WAIT i thougth all elfs were ” shes ”

    WTF …

YOU MEAN IVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT LEGOLAS …. THAT WAY …. FOR ALL THESE YEARS …. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Demagog Dog

    Absolute TROOF

  • Now it’s a real party

  • UPVOTE

I SHOULD HAVE SAID DOJOS AND FESTS TOO

  • Demagog Dog
  • I have faith that it will be good. I have just reconciled that it will not be what we got in that comics storyline .

  • Slothra

    You’re late, Arkady.

  • luke : i dont believe it

yoda : and that is why you fail

  • Demagog Dog

The only way Football can change your life is if you end up in a wheelchair afterwards…FUJML!!!

  • whos got the Mike’s Hard Lemonade?

  • So it seems.

  • Slothra

Please try to be on time from now on.

  • It’s hard to arrive in time when you are crossing the universe by bending space-time.

  • well you can get anyone to play red skull and yea Secret Wars you need FF to be viable. Fregie already said SW is coming. maybe ten years maybe `5 but they will get FF back. Fox is going to ruin them though.

punisher cap fight is almost enough to make cival
    war great

  • Slothra

You didn’t do that. You’re just sitting in front of your fucking computer like the rest of us.

  • Movies are supposed to be whatever the filmmakers want them to be. If you agree with them, that’s an entire different subject.

  • But that’s what they want you to believe.

  • Demagog Dog

I read that as “Who got Mike Hard with Lemonade?”

  • Sensual lemonade?

  • Slothra

Movies should be that which Christopher Nolan is not.

  • i want the arch where they decide to kill him. they attack his space station and wolverine tries to kill him and fails like he always does. and mags pulls all the adamtanium from logans body . of course prof x mind wiped him shortly after . still would be a great scene in a film

  • Demagog Dog

They should offer valid points from both sides and let you decide for yourself. The best movies are ambiguous.

  • Movies are supposed to be whatever the filmmakers want them to be. If you agree with them or not, that’s an entire different subject. Yeah.

  • fox dont count ! his name is richard peach he is a blogger

  • LMAO

  • There’s some movies which have a one message to show that are good, but it’s hard to pull off well.

  • PLEASE LISTEN TO THE SHOW AND CLICK THE DONATE TEN $ FIVE TIMES TO COMMENT

  • Booger T

victor gets mad because reed started a flame war on his website

  • You need to go on vacations? If so, i would donate, as long it was to visit Portugal.

    #KIMSASSOFDOOM

    #DOOM/PORNHUBRAYJAY

  • done !

  • Booger T

i highly doubt movie civil war will take more than a tiny bit of the storyline from the book. there’s too much difference in the universes

  • Booger T

    i did it

  • Demagog Dog

That would be an amazing scene with current day CGI. But I think the Phalanx, at the core, is probably a little too close to Skynet…just like The Brood are too close to Alien (even though THAT would be amazing too…)

  • down and to the left. Cant complain .

  • Demagog Dog

I think it’s a sign of quality writing when you can empathize with the villain…at least on paper. Sometimes the execution leaves something to desire…

  • Demagog Dog

    Get Deceased and Captain Genius!

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Man, I hope he’s done making those stupid rom-coms.

  • Demagog Dog

  • Booger T

but tom brady is his idol and he really relates to him because they’re both diamonds in the rough

  • Demagog Dog

    usually Liam Neeson’s

  • Emma’s Revengeance

    Semenade.

  • that works also.

  • Demagog Dog

Willard mentioned that JML’s well-spoken. I think that’s what pisses me off the most…he hides his passive-aggressive contrarian bullshit behind a bunch of $5 words to trick you into thinking his opinions are worth reading a 10-page essay on why Green Lantern is the best movie ever made.

The guy is garbage. Like, his body is literally made out of 100% recycled plastic and toilet paper. Anyone here see the South Park episode where they discover Bono’s true identity? Yeah, like that.

    http://soundslikeshark.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/bono-south-park-turd.jpg

  • Demagog Dog

    The “o” makes it copyright-able, like Sy-Fy

  • I think Doom wrote the code for livefyre commenting

  • Demagog Dog

    LOL!

  • Demagog Dog

I thought his name was Robert Paulson

  • Booger T

you would rather he infect good movies?

  • Demagog Dog

FYI, Herc from AICN gave it an A+. Just sayin’.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    He’s a pretty good actor. I don’t hate him

  • Godzilla Fanboy

I think I remembered reading some positive reviews on that shitpile.

  • i love that episode

Hello ,hello. Yeah yeah yeah yeah !!

  • Who’s JML?

  • Emma’s Revengeance

He’s the cunt talking about Ayn Rand.

  • He’s a poster here or what?

  • He is the guest of the podcast.

  • Demagog Dog

He hosts the worst podcast I’ve ever listened to – The Midside featured on PulpEpic.com!

  • Emma’s Revengeance

The guy on the pods. The guest.

  • I hear good things. Michael B Jordan also i hear. Its just…… They are not Fantastic.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Oh I’d rather see him do something else than FF. At least.

  • ^^ BLEEP ^^

  • Booger T

i havent found him to be a bad actor, but i do find him intensely unlikable

  • It’s very good all this talk that it’s inconfortable to be lectured by a movie, it often makes we feel like we are being talked down by a filmmaker.

However, history has shown that sometimes some anvils need to be dropped. Some older movies might sound like they are peachy, but by the standards of the time, they were calling attention to subjects and problems which society was often pretending they didn’t exist and looking away hoping it would go away.

  • Booger T

how do you not know this by now. he’s featured on PE like all the time

  • THANK YOU

    there is a huge diff

  • damn thats a good one

  • It’s more about the delivery.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

I found him unlikable in that stupid comedy and I probably would in those rom-coms. But he was pretty likable in The Spectacular Now.

  • Orci’s name is spanish (he’s mexican), it’s not pronounced “Orki” but more like “Orsi”.

  • Sure, you are right.

  • Godzilla Fanboy

Dude, do you have to use TV Tropes terminology?

  • Yes.

  • then why do it ?

  • Demagog Dog

    AsimovLives: Proponent of Reefer Madness!

  • LMAO

  • And yet i only touched the thing twice in my life, and were very weakened variety so weak it didn’t do any effect at all. Any glass of beer was stronger.

  • bingo

  • Godzilla Fanboy

    *sigh*

  • Booger T

if he would like the respect required to pronounce his name right, he should earn it by making better movies or by quitting making movies

  • Good point.

  • Demagog Dog

Maybe he should team up with JML to run a show and ride off into obscurity

  • its mexican for ” hack “

  • But JML teared him a new hole whenhe criticised Star Trek Into Sexual Transmited Desease.

  • Demagog Dog

I smoked a few joints with no effect at first. It took a bong hit to get on that magic carpet ride with the sweet chiba

  • Emma’s Revengeance

…………………………..That joke you made was so forced it hurt.

  • He´s a Mexi-can’t

  • I’ll use vaseline next time.

  • Emma’s Revengeance

And now you’ve crossed into Dude, Not Funny.

  • Mexi-Khan’t.

  • YMMV

  • i love that joke

  • Demagog Dog

    he’s a Hack-tivist

  • right on

  • a hack – stylist

  • Khanspiracy theorist.

  • So i just gave up before the thing really hit.
    It’s like Gin, actually.

  • low fruit, I know

  • I’ve been wanting to rant on the “new” Universal Monster movie plans. I thought maybe it had hope. Then i watched Dracula Untold. That was not good. . . . These romanticised versions are killing these films. The filmmakers seem to forget that these are MONSTERS. I guess the Frankenstein monster is the only one with some real redeeming qualities. Simply because he´s not at fault for existing in the first place. And hes retarded…….

The one remake i would like to see done is Jekyll and Hyde. But Jekyll cannot be a “sexy” dude, and Hyde MUST BE A TOTAL PRICK !!

  • yea if the movie wanst called dracula it wouldnt hav ebeen awful . but he is truely the hero. fucking dracula isnt a hero ….

  • damn right.

  • Demagog Dog

They’ve already done it well. It’s called Incredible Hulk.

  • Did you guys get my voice mail?

  • Yes!

  • well…… not really. Hulk was not A TOTAL PRICK !

  • That’s Smales. He’s a little on the spectrum, if you know what I mean, so don’t go too hard on him.

  • THANKS!

  • Sweet. I only did the two joke ones after. I couldn’t actually think of something legitimate to disagree with anyone about.

  • You won’t be thanking me after you hear what Puckgrinder had to say!

  • we like other points of views here, unlike other shows and sites …

  • lol it’s not a point of view, I basically just called you out.

  • You’re on fire today Asi

  • cool !

well play it on the site.

if i dont like something ill have it BLEEPED out

  • lets complement him when he listens to the episode
