Jack fights the plague this week, so Jamill Payne joins the boys to rave about the Mad Max series! What’s up with post-apocalyptic fashions? Of course talking about Max sets off another rant about reboots…Ghostbusters, anyone

We finally drag Kyle away from Metal Gear long enough to get his ultimate impression of Hideo Kojima’s swan song.

The boys get all literary and discuss the Millennium Trilogy and whether some characters should outlive their creators.

Frank Miller and the goddamn Batman come up…

Also, why’s Jason Statham hating on comic book movies? Do actors hate doing them?

This question, along with many others are answered here!

Outro music: Did You See Me by the Bus Boys.

Damn, this Poddy came out late today.
I was looking forward to it during Lunchtime but it never came to be. )0:

  • Jack Randomm

Sorry, Stalkeye. I was fighting fevers.

  • Stalkeye

    My bad. Feel better, Meng!
    (Meanwhile, I’m busy fighting insomnia.)

    BTW “Call me, Stalks”.

  • Tarmac492.1

Hope you feel better, dude. I had bronchitis this summer–destroyed my entire mofo July. Something weird is happening. My entire office is coughing and blowing its nose 365. Captain Trips coming summer of 2027.

  • Tarmac492.1

Will download this Random bout of messy sickness for a listen sometime this weekend.

  • Stalkeye

Thanks for the apology Jacky, but it wasn’t necessary. My retrospective article of the Playstation, is solely based on it’s 20th Anniversary launch worldwide as well as my own personal experience. Hope you liked it.

  • Stalkeye

*Whew* So glad Kyle didn’t give away any spoilers for MGS PP. I’m still trying to finish that damn game whenever I find the opportunity. That Fucking game has more Bugs in it than MJ’s Corpse. (Too Soon?)

LMMFAO@”Konami Brett Harted the Game” I go that Shit right away and I dont even like Wrestling anymore. I loved Transformers the Movie and wrote a review awhile ago at Talkbacker and it was fun to hear you guys give it some love. BTW They put Spike’s “Holy Shit” back into the DVD/Blu Ray release. Although, I’m a GIJoe Guy, I lubbed me some Transformers cartoons back in the day.

Too bad those Hacks Bay, Orci and Kurtzman fucked up the live action Movies.

Fury Road is way overrated and lacks the depth and character construct of the original trilogy especially The Road Warrior which is an instant classic. Fury road was just that-“one big chase film”. devoid of a sold plot or substance.

Nah, it was awesome. As someone who saw all four back to back, with fresh eyes and without the bias of nostalgia, I can honestly say that it was a fantastic movie that lived up to the spirit of the others. It may not have established character on the same level, but that’s the thing about sequels: they don’t have to. We know who Max is now. We know what he’s about and why he is where he is. Now we can just watch him have crazy adventures and enjoy ourselves.

  • Hopefully I won’t ever have to re-record a podcast. I can’t imagine having to remember and spew all my bullshit a second time.

  • Sick Mad Max marathon.

  • lol yeah it’s funny to think maybe just Australia is fucked beyond repair and the rest of the world is moving along just fine.

  • “Shit blew up reaaal nice”

  • NOPE DON’T READ IT

  • Shit like that really pisses me off. I really don’t like when new authors take over stories. I’m sure there are exceptions that are fine, like if it uses existing material the author wrote before he died or something, that’s acceptable, but tossing that shit aside and going from scratch? Fuck it.

Comics I think are a little different because it’s kind of always been a “revolving door” medium where different artists and writers collaborated.

  • Stalkeye

Jamil seems to go back n forth with his take on Comic films. Yes, it is the “Golden Age” but I disagree that it will fade out like the western genre especially in the age of superior special effects/CGI. there are sooo many stories to be told and concepts to be shown that the films that we have seen from the past 6 or so Years are just the tip of the Iceberg.

Captain America being “Goofy” and not a “Superhero” Movie?

    Kyle, it’s that time again….!!

    http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/8-10-2015/4YW39q.gif

Idris is a fantastic actor and I too, wished that he would be Tchalla but that ship has long sailed. Hemidall being Black? well, is there a such thing as Norse Gods? 😛

Fucking Jamil read my mind (Again!) I immediately thought of that rumored Bullseye role with Stratham.. I cant comment on Crank because I have yet to see any of them and probably won’t. Yup, its sour grapes and good for Paul Bethany for calling his Arse out!

    ZIIIIINNNGG!

  • Stalkeye

Stan lee is not the great thespian everyone is so quick to believe. he had plenty of help from Jack Kirby and who came up with a shitload of plots and concepts.
Funny, after Jack left marvel, where was lee’s brilliant writing all of the sudden??

    Uh,huh. That’s what I thought.

  • Bah, gotta get ready for office party. Will finish later.

  • Jack Randomm

The hardest thing about re-recording is pretending you’ve heard something for the first time.

Other than that, it makes for a tighter show, because you know how sometimes you wish you could do things differently? Well, now you can.

  • Jack Randomm

Huh. Possibly the ONLY negative review of Fury Road I think I’ve heard! I have to see it now!

  • Stalkeye

See for yourself. I personally didn’t care for it.

  • Tarmac492.1

    Random instances of bad luck???

  • Tarmac492.1

Nothing more terrifying to me when money is a bit tight and your driving and you hear a “different” sound and I am like “fuck.”. You are just praying that it is some outside noise and not from your car. Same with smells. Fuck you, senses!!!

  • Tarmac492.1

Stalkeye should do a Star Wars retrospective!!! Don’t apologize!!!! 😉

  • Tarmac492.1

Good luck with your script Jamill!!!

  • Tarmac492.1

So, Kyle will not be naming his first born Konami???

  • Tarmac492.1

Never pour your drink out in anger. Such a waste of good booze!!!

  • Tarmac492.1

Thunderdome gets a bad rap, I think.

  • Tarmac492.1

Love the opening chase in the original Mad Max. What a way to start a series!!!

  • Tarmac492.1

Bust a deal, face the wheel!!!!!

  • Tarmac492.1

Love the Brian May(not the Queen guitarist) scores in the first to Mad Max flicks!!

  • Tarmac492.1

Mad Max flicks have cool character names. Auntie Entity, Toecutter… etc

  • Tarmac492.1

Great idea on the parody for Charlie’s Angels. Just keep Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick out of it. Kendrick is creepy like a snake that has spider legs and a scorpion head.

  • KilliK

    yeah, right..

  • Tarmac492.1

Ghostbusters was an incredibly intelligent script I thought. I have a 62 IQ, however.

  • Jack Randomm

    Agreed!

  • Jack Randomm

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Bop

Stan Lee should be called Stan Leech.

  • Bop

Stalks. You didn’t see the Cranks? The first one is entertaining, but the second one is batshit crazy. Crank 2 is one of my most favorite movies for sure.

  • Kyle Fulton

Well, it is goofy, and it’s not a superhero flick. It doesn’t fit any of the patterns of superhero flicks. It’s much closer to an old school adventure flick, like one of the director’s other major films, The Rocketeer. Having a superhero in your movie isn’t the same thing as having a superhero movie.

  • Kyle Fulton

I didn’t say I disliked it, haha. It’s one of my top Marvel films.

  • Kyle Fulton

    HE SHALL BE NAMED SNAKE!

  • Tarmac492.1

Give those two to John Carpenter and he has his fucking comeback. All he needs to do is make sure the camera is in focus.

  • Tarmac492.1

Office parties? Whats the point? You cant get drunk and every skank there has already fucked all your friends first.

  • This is Newfoundland, son. Everyone gets shitfaced whether in front of their coworkers or not. Unfortunately my job is pretty close to a sausage fest these days.

  • Tarmac492.1

tough to do that in the extended high school my office is. I select a few people to hang with. Those who know what happens outside of work, stays outside of work.

  • Stalkeye

I’m teasing ya about it being Goofy and not a Superhero Movie. I didn’t find anything Goofy about TFA and it was indeed a Superhero film by all means.

  • Stalkeye

LMFAO “Stan Leech” I love that!

  • Stalkeye

    Oh, you. (0;’

A Superhero filck isn’t always defined by the usual tropes one would typecast from other Comics. That’s like saying X-Men doesn’t qualify as a Superhero Movie because of their purpose to fight oppression against Mutantkind. There were Superheroic elements from TFA, like preventing the launch of Hydra’s Bombers and prior to that, the turning point in which Steve observes many casualties from his regiment and decide to abandon his USO “career” to rescue his best friend.
There were plenty of Superheroics abound within that Movie.

  • Stalkeye

It’s funny that you said that, S.

    (;’

  • Jamill Payne

    Thanks man

  • Kyle Fulton

Okay, but by that logic, License to Kill is a superhero movie.

  • Kyle Fulton

I honestly think that for the most part, if you and I didn’t admit we rerecorded, no one would ever know. We’ve shown ourselves to be pretty solid actors on that front more than a few times.

  • Kyle Fulton

In all honesty, I’d consider naming him Hideo if I wasn’t concerned about the reaction of other people to a white kid with a Japanese name.

  • Stalkeye
  • Actually purchased Okami just the other day.

  • The League fucking rules.

Which SN podcast is gonna tackle the whole Stephen Rannazzisi thing first?

  • Okay, DL’ing now – I’m seriously lagging with the podcasts. Weekends are mostly offline time for me

  • Oh, man…you’re having a bad Karma summer, Jack

  • “They BretHarted him…”
    LOL, I got that

  • Did they add a “one year later” into that missing chapter place?

  • Kyle saw “Mad Max” the first time? Congrats, Kyle – NOW you’re a Man.

  • Interesting take on Master
    😀

  • Oh, just call it the fourth part of the Millennium Trilogy.

  • You prefer John Gardner over Ian Fleming?!!? Tell me I didn’t just hear this sh*t

  • Jack Randomm

    No shit.

  • Stalkeye

    XD
