Intro: Meet Christine Morgan.

She’s an author, editor, cat love, and dispenses meat to trick-or-treaters.

Topic One: “Man,” I cried, “how ignorant art thou in thy pride…”

Despite the fact that one of the greatest horror novels written, Frankenstein, was written by Mary Shelley, women still seem to have a hard time being taken seriously in genre work. Why do you think this is, and has it gotten any easier?

Topic Two: George Noory Sucks

With the popularity of shows like Ghost Hunter, and radio programs like Coast to Coast, does it make you believe in the idea of ghosts more or less?

Topic Three: Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn

In a world where vampires sparkle and zombies are stale, is Cthulhu or Eldritch based horror the next big thing?

  • Slothrop

    Happy Halloween!!!

  • Slothrop

We night shift workers are a crazy bunch.

  • Slothrop

I am the only person on the internet who doesn’t have a cat?

  • Slothrop

Poetry! I’m an award-winning poet. My stuff is read by people all over the world.

  • Slothrop

Jesus, scott! That’s the best first line I’ve ever heard!

  • Slothrop

Women in horror: The Soska Sisters. They are at the top of their field. And American Psycho was directed by a woman (I can’t think of her name right now).

  • Slothrop

    scratch that niche!

  • Forgot the Soska Sisters and Mary Lambert, but we were referring to books mostly.

  • Slothrop

I know film better. Just adding to the conversation.

  • Slothrop

Having a penis is not a prerequisite to making a good horror story.

  • Abe doesn’t have one. We keep him for his web and editing skills though.

  • The Zombie line?

  • Slothrop

Women are often the hero in horror films, though. Moreso than most other genres, anyway.

  • Slothrop

The extremely filthy first line of your story. Had cunt in it.

  • Slothrop

Ghosts are fictional. Ghost Hunters is a joke.

  • Slothrop

    Space Ghost: Coast to Coast!

  • Slothrop

I’m exactly as smart as I think I am.

  • Slothrop

Vampires will sparkle for the next 10-15 years. It’s a sad state of affairs.

  • Ha!Forgot I’d mentioned that! Very proud of that line.

  • Slothrop

I used to love zombie stuff. Now I can’t stand them. Market over-saturation.

  • Slothrop

John Carpenter: Hit and miss. He is neither over or under rated.

  • Slothrop

    Dio. Don’t say stupid things.

  • Slothrop

    The Fog is boring.

  • Slothrop

Halloween was a rip off. Black Christmas came first. And The Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio came before that. Slashers had already been done to death before Carpenter got to them.

  • Slothrop

    Candy Corn is over-rated.

  • Slothrop

Meat for Halloween! What a great idea!

  • Slothrop

Danny is under-rated. He was so funny on SNL and he’s been in a bunch of classic comedies.

  • Slothrop

    Doctor Detroit! Love that film.

  • Slothrop

Twitter: Over. I have a twitter account and I never even use it. I don’t see the point.

  • Slothrop

My thoughts scare me. Please do not leave me alone with them.

  • Slothrop

Pumpkin Spice Lattes: Under. I fucking love them. I wish they were available all year.

  • Slothrop

    Coming soon: The McRib Latte!

  • Slothrop

Another solid show. Nice work, kids.

  • Slothrop

I’m not calling that number unless I’ve very drunk.

  • Slothrop

Is the guest next week going to shit all over Interstellar? I sure hope so.

  • Yes she does.

  • Slothrop

I will be back next week to hear that. In fact, I can’t wait.

  • I think you’re really going to like it a lot. She’s something else!

  • Will listen to this later. Nice to see some sites still celebrate Halloween.

  • I’ve never seen Jekyll and Hyde Portfolio. I’ll find it forthwith!

  • I think of you as zorak like.

  • If he walked away at In the Mouth of Madness he’d be under rated, but he didn’t.

  • Tim something
  • Tim something

    Also damp.

  • Tim something

    “female horror writers”

    About 12,800,000 results

  • Tim something

Oh wait it’s just Anne Rice and Dean Koontz 12,799,000 times

  • Tim something

Of course they’re fictional, haven’t you heard of ghost writers?

  • Tim something

Art Bell was entertaining, Noory is awful.

  • Tim something

Fritz Leiber did some great scary stories.

  • Noory is the worst thing to happen to radio since George Noory.

  • Slothrop

    It’s pretty fucking awful…

  • Slothrop

    I consider that a compliment.

  • Tim something

    Noory was worse.

  • Tim something

    “It’s the Tadzik Highway Patrol”

  • Tim something

“The Horned Ones” tourists trapped in a cave with monsters. NICE SPOILER CHRISTINE! Lol.

  • Tim something

“The Spiced Ones” tourists trapped in a Dunkin Donuts on Halloween with pumpkin monsters.

  • Tim something

Jesus as a vampire=nope. Jesus as a plumber- that’s scary.
“Here’s your problem Mr. Colbert, you got wine in all your pipes”

  • Tim something

  • That’s awesome! haha

Jesus is the zombie savior: The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. Matthew 27:53-54

  • R J D

    thanks again slow guy

  • Slothrop

John Carpenter is the greatest horror director ever.

  • Grading on the curve doesn’t even describe that sentimnt. You’re getting soft!

  • Sounds like a tough job.

  • If interesting.

  • Frankenstein was also SF!

  • I think I never read a horror novel by a female author except Frankenstein, admittedly.

  • Never heard of George Noory, to be honest.

  • Cthulhu is hard to do in movies.

  • Soooo sick of zombies. Nearly as much as of superheros.

  • “tentacles slithering out of your asshole”

  • John Carpenter: underrated. He was one of the co-creators of the movie look of the 80s.

  • James Whale was a master.

  • what’s a candy corn

  • Dan Aykroyd… really tough question

  • Thought twitter must be the worst place before I had it, but it’s not that bad. I got some nice images and articles from there. But agree about the ADD argument.

  • “Pumpkin Spice Latte”- never heard about it, but the name alone makes me wanna puke.

  • Historical horror sounds pretty good- love Viking stuff!

  • Love anthologies.

  • Excellent show again guys! And a very interesting guest!

  • HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

  • ugh, Ghosts of Mars is a movie WS Anderson would be ashamed of.

  • Happy Halloween!

  • google is your friend

  • R J D

    thanks !

  • R J D

  • R J D

best horror director ever ? discuss !

  • R J D

    i love that film

  • never read anything by her

  • R J D

didnt like pundit either to be honest

  • among the best for sure

  • R J D

the vampire lestat was her, before she became christian and then not christian again

  • I know what she wrote I just never read anything of that stuff. I think I own the audio book of the first lestat. She reverted back from christianity?

  • Not ideal if you are more frightening to look at than your books are to read

  • Finally got to listening….had my plate full of issues for most of the week

  • Scott can sure come up with those dealbreaker first sentences

  • I won’t believe in ghosts until I see one…

  • Yup, vampire sparkle should be forbidden now

  • Lovecraft’s whole body of work has been released in six big volumes here in Finland in the last 2 years – I’m gonna dive into that pretty soon….there’s so much of that stuff I haven’t yet read

  • Carpenter – underrated. There are soooo many classics in that filmography it’s a given

  • Yes! Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness mentioned! Thank You Dio!

  • Aykroyd – overrated. Three words: Blues. Brothers. 2000.

  • Twitter is rated right just as it is

  • I assume there’s pumpkin beer, too…?

  • Great show again. I’m constantly impressed by your guest roster

  • We try to get the best folks we can to make it as interesting as possible.

  • My specialty. 🙂
