The first week of 2015 was, for lack of a better word, lame. But that doesn’t stop us from talking about it! Michael Keaton visiting Skull Island, a very small Marvel movie trailer, Cleveland Brown’s lawsuit, nude pics of a Golden Girl and more!

Nick introduces a new segment and of course, we crown our asshole of the week.

  • Gotham City has never looked better than it did in Batman Returns.

  • Nobody understands me as well!

  • I coined the term “Keatonaissance”. It’s gonna happen, goddammit

  • Haunted House….2?

  • And “Batman Returns” FTW

  • Nick has a hole in his soul.

  • I thought one was enough. I guess not

  • Can’t wait until Dee gets to the 18 min mark.

  • That’s gotta be the shortest court session in history. LMAO

  • Making my dinner right now…. curious.

  • Dan respects my opinion that PT Anderson is overrated!

  • I just don’t trust Rotten Tomatoes at all. There are a few people whose opinion I trust and one of them is me

  • “bow down to us…”, yes!

  • critics are important. You just have to know whom to trust.

  • “well, I know what I’ll be doing tonight….” LMAO

  • Nag, nag, nag

  • Are you not a critic, Nick?

  • I cannot trust all my friends regarding movies.

  • Sand. It gets everywhere

  • Next week: “What the fuck, Inuits?!!?”

  • What’s the keyboard shortcut to draw a middle finger? Ah, never mind. FUCK YOOUUUUUUUU!

  • It’s your own fault if you believe rotten tomatoes.

  • I know where I fall in that statement.

  • Nick, is there a full track of that “Asshole”-song?

  • Thanks for the shout out! I never want to spoil a movie for anyone, even if the review is negative. It shall “open up dialogue”.

  • well, I know what I’ll be doing tonight

  • while we’re at it

  • The youtube still makes it even better.

  • Tony Montana moved to Florida.

  • hilarious!

  • Mr Nick Nightly

No, no. I just like movies a lot and can’t shut up about them.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

Nope. I just threw that together.

  • There is one legendary “Asshole”-song already though:

  • Mr Nick Nightly

From a promotional standpoint, I guess they are.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

Fellas, “Inherent Vice” is really fucking good.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

It’s not bad. It’s extremely average.

007 : Child support is not enough

  • David Cronenberg is right

    Live Blogging my favorite podcast…

    * I’m trying to stay positive about Ant Man…I can feel the long knives coming out for it — the press LOVES to trash the living hell out of someone who has become too successful, and you can see them drooling already at the prospect of a modern arvel bomb. Just makes me want to root for it.

    * Big Hero 6 is good, I’m just missing the days when a Disney animated film was part of a movement in animation art. Frozen seemed comprised of repurposed character models from Tangled, Big Hero Six isn’t too far away from those character designs, with the exception of sweet Baymax. There’s a genericism there, a kind of house style creeping in.

  • i read this on the PrimeWire comment section:

    “Before I go to sleep….. I fell asleep after 25min. 3/5 stars”

Seriously?? I have not seen it, but if it put me to sleep i don’t think i would give it an above average rating ……

  • I know a guy who gets paid to write 5 star reviews for books on Amazon. Apparently its a whole industry.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

I miss hand drawn animation 🙁

  • I don’t think Batman v Superman will make as much money as GotG.

    We shall see.

  • i downloaded the screener. Will watch next week.

  • I just saw the nude Betty pics——– So yeah.

  • I worked in Florida once.

  • Global warming baby

  • ErnestRister

Moana…it’s going to use that Paperman/Feast hand-drawn/CGI hybrid tech. Wreck It Ralph 2 and Frozen 2 (if they get made) are going to be the last CGI-only animated films at Disney.

i’ll wait to listen to this tomorrow during my soul-crushing job. i just came here to post while i have a minute away from my ball-busting wife. i should have just kept tagging that chick from high school on the side…

  • CreepyThinMan

May I propose a show dedicated to Batman? Movies, TV shows, games, etc….?!?FACT!!!

  • CreepyThinMan

There’s been a lot of revisionism about Batman Returns over the years and I don’t know why because it’s fucking terrible and just as bad as Batman & Robin. With the first Batman and Batman Forever, both Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher were on their best behavior and couldn’t fuck around. Both movies were hugely successful and their respective Directors used their sequels to unleash the worst aspects of their ID.

Burton doesn’t give a shit about Batman which is why he turned Returns into a grotesque freakshow. The movie is fuck ugly on every level with a color palette that consists of black, white, grey and blue. The cinematography is terrible. The production design is trash. Everything looks awful. Even the make-up on the actors makes them look like freshly embalmed corpses. The screen play is complete shit, courtesy of Daniel Waters, that makes every line of dialogue sound like a punchline or a pun. I think everyone in the movie is mis-cast including Keaton who shouldn’t have been given the role that Alec Baldwin was born to play.

I really fucking hate this movie as it doesn’t represent anything other than Burton sticking his head as far up his asshole as humanly possible. Luckily he redeemed himself with Ed Wood and the Nightmare Before Chrsitmas. Otherwise, FUCK BATMAN RETURNS!!!

Batman & Robin’s one saving grace is that it’s a really beautiful looking movie. Otherwise it’s a fucking mess. Where as Burton used Returns to wallow in his adolescent obsession with being a Goth asswipe, Schumacher turns his sequel into a pride parade. I have all four of the first Batman movies on Bluray and recently watched their behind the scenes making of docs and their very good. I find the Batman Forever/B&R ones fascinating because there’s a candid quality to them.

Schumacher and Chris O’Donnell both talk about the misgivings they had while actually making the film as it was rushed into production by the morons studio executives, while Schumacher admits that he does share responsibility for the way the movie turned out and apologized while Burton remains an unrepentant douchebag.

For this reason, and the movies rich candy colored cinematography, I’d go with Batman & Robin over Batman Returns anytime!!!FACT!!!

  • CreepyThinMan

WOO-HOO CANADA!!! I’m going to write a ultra-violent, pornographic Bond novel and publish it on Amazon!!!FACT!!!

  • ErnestRister

Naah. West coast has that. East Coast has some very amazing things, though.

  • cant wait

  • they def record well

  • have your ppl call my ppl

  • batman blowing up ppl with bombs smilling …

    not really mine batman

B & R has a bad script. and neither TLJ or JC even act like their characters just a amped up retarded version of the joker. but Val is allot better than ppl say and it was Ms Tom Cruise II very best performance ever.

  • i wrote three 5 star reviews on amazon and never even got a thank you

  • Scotts review of his films is pretty impressive

  • dueling banjos

  • CreepyThinMan

Speaking of Rotten Tomatoes. I was at Wal-Mart and they had a stand of Blurays with the RT Certified Fresh tomato logo on the side!!!FACT!!!

In regards to reviews. All reviews are subjective. I filter something through my brain damage and try to make my reviews entertaining and informative while searching for some insight into the subject. And if I can’t do that I just make shit up for a laugh. I really don’t take the subject seriously.

Also, fuck Roger Ebert. Fat fuck. Despite writing Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, he was a snob. He and his butt buddy Siskel ranted against the Friday the 13th series but slobbered over Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, just because Henry sat down and talked about how his mommy treated him badly. Now, Henry is indeed a great film but I couldn’t stand the way they thumbed their nose at certain types of films because they offended their delicate sensibilities. Henry is just as viciously violent as any of the F13th flicks and to dislike one over the other because of the context of its violence is stupid. Mrs. Voorhees went insane and killed because of the death of her son. Is that not motivation enough? Meanwhile, those two raved about John Carpenters Halloween despite the fact that it’s a piece of moronic shit no better than F13th. But Halloween didn’t have gore so they praised it even though it was still a slasher film!

Consistency is the biggest problem that I have with most movie reviewers!!!FACT!!!

  • CreepyThinMan

Yeah, when it cums to those Betty White pics, I’ve beaten off to much better vintage erotica!!!FACT!!!

  • Mr Nick Nightly

Not to mention Ebert’s hatred for Blue Velvet.

  • Stalkeye

Marlon Wayans hasn’t been relevant since don’t be drinking your juice and the first Scary movie film. This guy is no longer funny and the second reason why I hated GIJoe: Rise of Cobra so much.

Now he’s coming off like some internet troll, what a douche.
I wished you guys would’ve chimed in on the crazy shit that has happened in Paris,
over 17 Civilians lost their lives because some Assholes took offense of a satirical piece? I hope that there is a “special place” reserved for those cowardly Terrorists in the after life, No, Nick, it aint the hot climate, just some violent batshit culture that mistreat Women and others who cannot hold an opinion different from others.

And yeah, WTF is up with Florida for various reasons?
Zimmerman walked only to be arrested (again) for assaulting a female. Pussy!

Glad to hear Keaton on he comeback. He did an excellent performance in Birdman and although i didn’t care for him as Batman, Returns were the best of his two films.

  • Stalkeye

“There’s been a lot of revisionism about Batman Returns over the years and I don’t know why because it’s fucking terrible and just as bad as Batman & Robin.”'t.gif

  • Stalkeye

” I think everyone in the movie is mis-cast including Keaton who shouldn’t have been given the role that Alec Baldwin was born to play.”

    Agreed 100%!

  • Stalkeye

    You talented Sonabitch, you!
Props to your best of series. IMO its a certified success!!

You Boyos keep up the great work.

  • Stalkeye

[email protected] as he loses his Shit.
This is the most i have heard you laugh so hard, Man!
As usual, I couldn’t contain myself after hearing nick throw out a plethora of F-Bombs.
Nick has used the N-word as much as your average episode of The Wire. 😛

  • Mr Nick Nightly

Context, man. It’s all in the context. 😉

  • Mr Nick Nightly

Man, that shit with France had me furious. I don’t really like to discuss something on the show unless I can find some humor in it. There’s just no humor there. I debated myself over that topic, too. I feared it would bring things down too much, and even more I didn’t want my anger to come out as intolerance.

  • Stalkeye

I feel ya and perhaps you made the right judgement call.
i already went on my tirade at Willy’s Dojo the minute I got word of these sick and cowardly acts.
Those who worship and condone said acts are nothing short of savages and have no place within modernized society.

What they have done is far worse than the alleged NK reaction to The Interview. Tis a sad day for freedom of Speech. )0:’

  • I think Nick may have edited out some laughing too. This was a funny one. Plus we had just recorded the other SUK episode beforehand (the one that airs this Wednesday) and Nick had me going from that one.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

My “Get Them Out Of the Heat” rant was my indirect way of addressing it.

  • Stalkeye

I kinda figured that out while I was listening to that segment. However, i was expecting a big segue and then go for the jugular.

No biggie, when i think of Hot environments with Crazy people, this also comes to mind! (0:<

  • ErnestRister

I take it you haven’t heard the “wet bag of pennies” conversation, Stalk. 😉

  • ErnestRister

They loved Halloween. Sequels, not so much.

  • Stalkeye

    No, I haven’t.
Care to enlighten this uninitiated fella?

  • ErnestRister

Um…relates to the taste of…um…when a man and a woman love each other and get very close…um…help me out, Nick.

  • Stalkeye

  • Mr Nick Nightly

I once compared the taste of pussy to having pennies in your mouth.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

    I got this.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

Fuck, I want to play this game.

  • Bop

Need to listen to this soon.

  • Bop

Wasn’t Wayans Little Man? I fucking love that movie.

  • Stalkeye

Definitely worth the (Now) Five bucks if you own either a PS3 or an XBox 360/ It’s also available for PC.

Here’s an cool retrospective of this underrated classic.

  • Stalkeye

    WOW! That’s an interesting comparison.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

It occured to me in high school when I had my first taste of birth canal.

  • Bop

I hope they deliver an enjoyable Ant-Man movie.

  • Bop

    Where is Catherine-Zeta Jones?

  • Probably where Michael Douglas is, mostly….

  • Bop

    Does she call him Ant-Man?

  • Bop

I don’t know about Michael Keaton. As Beetlejuice I found him marvelous, but his other movies I didn’t enjoy that much.

  • Bop

The atmosphere in Batman Returns was amazing.

  • Bop

The Batman Returns game was one of the better SNES games.

  • Bop

Marlon Wayans can be funny sometimes., I think.

  • It’s pure Burton kookyness, uncompromised

  • Bop

You had a good teacher, Dan. God knows how much motherfucking money I spent buying textbooks from all kinds of jabronies during my school time. And no, they were not cheap. And yeah, they made me braindead too.

  • Bop

It’s funny. I never paid attention to Rotten Tomatoes.

  • Bop

    Nick’s Heat Theory. Pay attention.

  • Stalkeye

I’m still waiting on that Autobiography or yours!! (0:<

  • Mr Nick Nightly

I loved it. The Batmobile stages were especially fun.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

Yup. I love all the set designs, color palette, penguin’s carnies, all of it.

  • Stalkeye

never bothered to have seen that.
After White girls, I had more than enough of Wayans’ comedic ventures.
And to think he was actually good in Requiem for a Dream.

  • Stalkeye

I liked the move in which you can have batman slam some punk against the wall. BRUTAL!!
Oh, and the music was awesome but then again, what do you expect from Konami? U,U, D,D, L, R. L, R, A, B Start FTW!

  • Mr Nick Nightly

I liked Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage a lot too. Music by Green Jelly!

  • Bop

White Girls was embarrassing. Even more embarrassing that I watched it after a cool girl recommended it to me and I watched it. I didn’t find her that cool afterwards.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

    I know I’m onto something.

  • Yup, best one I had in college for sure.

  • Stalkeye

  • Mr Nick Nightly

I’m thrilled you like these guys! I try to spread the word but they can be a tough sell for some reason. This song sounds like Black Sabbath jamming with Funkadelic.

  • Mr Nick Nightly

I was jamming to this set yesterday.

  • Stalkeye

I missed out on this game. I heard that my Boy ‘lok made an appearance. And wasn’t Green Jelly previously called Green Jello?

  • Stalkeye

These cats are worthy of pimping their stuff out there. It’s a refresh , from all the shit i am used to listening to. I also have Budos on my Amazon prime Music subscription. (yesterday, I played Monkey see, monkey do on my smartphone via Amazon subscription .)

    Truly a great find.

I’ll pass this on to my DJ Homie Soundwave. (yes, Soundwave is his DJ name. LOL)

  • Stalkeye

Only in two Movies and that’s it.

  • Los benatos

Green jelly was def green jello first! Danny Carey was their drummer and was a bonafied bad ass even then!

  • Mr Nick Nightly

Yes, and Green Jelly is actually still pronounced “Green Jell-o” thanks to the umlaut over the “Y” in the official spelling.

  • Stalkeye

I think the name change was due to the makers of Jello filing some cease and desist lawsuit.

    Anyway, this was a classic!

  • This guys wouldn’t be out of place in the 70s.
The them they play in this video reminds me of those movie opening titles themes from late 1960s/1970s movies like The Taking Of Pelham 123.

  • The sequel is so much better.

  • Roger Ebert wrote a negative review of Blade Runner when it was first released. He then revised his opinion and considered it among one of his best films list.
