No not that Shining. But I’m sure the influence is there. Lauren Beukes novel about a time-traveling serial killer has been shuffled around into various hands for a while now, and has finally landed at MRC with Morten Tyldum of The Imitation Game directing. Tyldum is finishing up The sci-fi film The Passengers at the moment.

Synopsis:

The story of The Shining Girls revolves around a serial killer in 1930s Chicago who stumbles upon a time traveling device, and his would-be victim who survives and tries to bring the time-jumping killer to justice.

The book has its detractors and lovers, but I think the premise is sound. And in the end that’s all Hollywood needs anyway.
