This trailer has actually been around for almost a week now, but figured I’d post it up here anyway for our contingent of gaming fans that may have missed it.
The Gamechangers is an unauthorized drama about the controversy surrounding the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise (BBC: “based on court documents and interviews with many of those involved in the real events behind this compelling story”). It stars Daniel Radcliffe as Sam Houser, one of the co-founders of Rockstar Games who, along with his brother Dan, was one of the key creative forces behind Grand Theft Auto‘s massive success beginning with the third title in the series.
Joining Radcliffe is Bill Paxton as lawyer Jack Thompson, who’s famous for being a
nutjob anti-video game activist. He went after a number of games containing sex and/or violence, most notably the Grand Theft Auto series, while also bemoaning obscenities on the radio and in rap music.
The Gamechangers is a made-for-TV film that will air on BBC2 in the UK on September 15. No word yet on if/when it will air in North America.
