First teaser for the HBO-series "Westworld", based on the legendary Michael Crichton movie from 1973. HBO’s Westworld gets a teaser

The upcoming HBO-series Westworld, based on the legendary Michael Crichton- movie from 1973 about a futuristic theme park whose robot personnel suddenly goes berserk on the visitors, gets a short teaser.

This looks very promising and while the original is mostly famous for Yul Brunner’s chilling performance as robot cowboy (brilliantly recast with Ed Harris!) and the original premise, it’s not an untouchable classic and leaves definitely room for improvement, even if that means to suspend the inimitable 70s charm.

Other cast members are Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Anthony Hopkins. Westworld will debut on HBO in 2016.

  • Well, fuck me. That actually looks interesting.

  • Abe

Yeah I’m curious to see this now.

  • KilliK

    looks promising.

I hope they are also going to use the conspiracy elements from the original’s sequel, and at some point in the season, there is this huge twist where Hopkins’s big boss is revealed to be a robot himself.

    sign me up.

  • Looks good. Bring it.

  • Tarmac492.1

harris should be fairly badass in this.

  • Never watched the original, might give it a spin before watching this.

  • Sagamanus

It’s watchable, although a bit dated. Not that that really matters. But you might like it. I wonder if they’re going to do to this what they did to The Prisoner when it was remade? Not as mysterious that is.

  • Sagamanus

This looks quite good. Is it going to be a one-off or a regular series?

  • Tarmac492.1

There has never been a movie or tv show that has not benefited from the casting of Ed Harris in a role.

  • Tarmac492.1

I havent seen it in a long time, but remember it being very entertaining, especially Yul Brynner getting shot all the time early on. Had he been twenty five years younger, the casting of Eastwood in this remake would have been a fucking blast. Although, Harris will deliver. He always fucking delivers.

  • Stalkeye

WTF is with Michael Crichton and Theme parks running amok?

  • Stalkeye

Along with Connery, he was the best thing from Bay’s The Rock.

Oh, and it’s funny to see Ed’s reaction to Kazan being honored at the Academy.

    Ed be like “Stop snitching”!

I would have loved to have seen HBO do a series based on Bioshock, but i guess WW will have to do.

  • Tarmac492.1

I remember that. His wife had a look that Kazan just backed over the family mutt in the driveway.

  • Stalkeye

LMAO I like that analogy. Amy wasn’t having that Shit! What’s unfortunate, is most of the People Kazan ratted out weren’t Communists and their careers and Lives were destroyed.

  • Stalkeye

Sounds a bit like the makings of a disgruntled Author. XD

Of course, she always looks pissed off.

  • Stalkeye

He’s not giving it to her good, methinks.

  • Well, if it ain’t broke…

  • You goddamn right.
