This might or might not be of value to somebody, considering Halloween is a series that just keeps going and going. Though I don’t think it has as many as Friday The Thirteenth on its shelf. Nevertheless the announcement of Malek Akkad, the son of Moustapha Akkad, who produced the original films, and most importantly John Carpenter, who will executive produce and more than likely provide the score for it. Carpenter stated:

“We’re probably going to go back to the original traditions that we started with early on. It’s kind of gone astray a little bit. I thought maybe the remakes went off somewhere that I didn’t want ‘em to go. Michael Myers is not a character. He is a force of nature. He is not a person. He is part supernatural, part human. He’s like the wind. He’s an evil wind. When you start straying away from that and you get into explaining, you’re lost. So hopefully we can guide it back in that direction.”

Where can they go with this character now, as he’s sowed his oats as Jaws on land? Does it matter who’s involved since we don’t know anything about the film at at all? Who can say? They’re starting over from the beginning, most likely. And that means we’ve already seen it.

    William Shatner needs those residuals.

  • I_am_better

Well, that sure took it’s time. Last time they tried to get him involved was back with Halloween H20

  • I dont know the man but i dont feel like he is still even interested in this property. Get him his money, sure. absolutely. but I want him W&Ding with final cut again on a new concept even if its on a shoestring budget

  • Turd Has Escaped The Gravy

I don’t feel this is cause for optimism, despite Carpenter’s words. If Carpenter was directing this movie, I possibly might, but he isn’t. I fully expect yet another shitty, forgettable sequel. The Akkads have bled this turnip until it’s dry.

Man they really can’t let go of this guys tit can they? When is enough, enough?

You guys really should take a page from Stephen King and create a universe for yourselves. Then you can have an infinite amount of freaks and spooks and IT WON’T FEEL SO REHASHED.

We get new horror. You get money. I think they call that capitalism.

    check please

  • Tarmac492.1

i am in if shatner plays michael myers. and sings

  • Tarmac492.1

i would trust carpenter directing a flick as much as i would romero. i am sad to say that

  • Tarmac492.1

expect it to be pg13 with carpenter stating that the original had no blood…. blah blah blah

  • Dee-abolik

Carpenter is for this reboot what Kasdan was for TFA.

Wait a minute… The director who officially stated that he doesn’t care for the quality of the remakes of his movies as long as he gets paid, returns as -ahem- “executive producer” to a franchise he created and abandoned many years ago, a franchise that counts 12 movies and is now rebooted for a third time, spouts a few really impersonal, generic lines about the appeal of this series- and that doesn’t make you a little bit excited???

  • Why not just make a television series about this? If the intention is to make it good, television is where quality resides, save some rare exceptions, this days.

  • That’s far more frightening than anything else in the series.

For me, Carpenter’s last good flick was In the Mouth of Madness. What was that, ’95? Hated Vampires. Had such high hopes. Romero has actually been better than him in the last 20 years, IMO.

Great comparison. What was the last great thing Kasdan wrote? I really liked Wyatt Earp. That was 22 years ago.

Not a bad idea. Perhaps make it Myers be the main story but not in every ep? Find some other horror type villains to work around? Could the Shamrock Company or something have a place in such a thing?

  • Or it could be a plot similiar to the first movie but with the characters and setting expanded, so that by the end when characters start to die, you actually feel they are people and not just slasher carnage. Meyers could remain a mysterious presence, only his menace expanded to the brink of human endurance.

Great idea! Showtime or Starz network would be perfect for a TV adaptation.

    Fuck that Shit!

  • Stalk👁

Actually, I liked Vampires. You can tell that James Woods was having too much fun making this film. Not feelin’ Land of the Dead or Survival of the dead. Both of those fuckers are in the same category if you ask me.

After making EFLA & GoM, he ‘s only good as a technical consultant at this point. 😛

  • *sees bait*

  • Tarmac492.1

survival is garbage. I liked Land and even Diary.

  • Tarmac492.1

    nice

    Happy Birthday man!

  • Toruk_Makto

Damned good movie that was. In the Mouth of Madness.

  • Thanks
