The Warriors are finally going through the remake filter, this time for TV. The Russo Bros., have been given a chance to bring the colorful hodgepodge of gangs from Sol Yurick’s universe to Paramount, and Hulu in a one-hour long series. Frank Baldwin will be writing.

Walter Hill directed the original, in a classic work of varying tone, that surely left plenty if someone wanted to expand on it.

Synopsis:

A battle of gigantic proportions is looming in the neon underground of New York City. The armies of the night number 100,000, they outnumber the police 5 to 1, and tonight they’re after the Warriors – a street gang blamed unfairly for a rival gang leader’s death. This contemporary action-adventure story takes place at night, underground, in the sub-culture of gang warfare that rages from Coney Island to Manhattan to the Bronx. Members of the Warriors fight for their lives, seek to survive in the urban jungle and learn the meaning of loyalty. This intense and stylized film is a dazzling achievement for cinematographer Andrew Laszlo.

Damn Dirty Daggit Machine

Uh, Saga, you forgot to add the title after the author’s name.

Also, what is it with books from the 70’s having major assholes for main characters?

  • Kylo Ronin

That could work. As much as I enjoy the movie, I don’t really mind if it was remade.

  • Sagamanus

Where? “Sol Yurick’s universe”. You mean after this?

  • Kylo Ronin

Oh. It was the italics that threw me off. My bad.

  • Sagamanus

    It’s alright.

I know the late Tony Scott was trying to get a remake up & running for a long time and I was kinda like “don’t mess with my Warriors!”, but when its the Russos – hell yes, go for it!

  • I_am_better

They’ve been fucked for over 3 hours now.

  • Stalkeye

I need to know what’s Bop’s take on this.
It’ll be nowhere as good as the Movie. Ajax will end up being overtly politically correct!
If you know what I’m saying. XD

I have always been against a Warriors remake. It would be blasphemy and they would cast all the wrong pussy lotion boy actors for it. And they could never get the atmosphere right.
Hell, even Walter Hill neutered the Warriors collector’s edition, which I don’t understand till this day, However, Rockstar Games showed with their game that you can add a lot of cool stuff to the mythos of The Warriors,so them I would trust for a remake.
Now this tv show… I wish it were done by the Banshee people. They are the right people for the job. They created the best fighting scenes in a tv show ever and they know a big about dark atmosphere.
As for the Russo brothers, after that airport scene of Civil War they are definitely candidates I could live with. I just hope they don’t get pussy lotion boy actors cast.

What I would like to see in a Warriors tv show remake is this

    1. The 70s setting
    2. A dark atmosphere
    3. The Baseball Furies
    4. The Lizzies
    5. The Hyattes
    6. Lots of fights
    7. 70s music
    8. Cameos by the old cast

Brother, your post sounds like an article within an article! I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said. Its all about the atmosphere and the aesthetics from the late 70’s, that made Warriors such a great cult classic. Although I love what the Russos have done with my boy Cap, I’m very skeptical about a TV Reboot however, if the producers behind Banshee (Alan Ball) could do it justice, then I might be sold on the idea.

    Pussy lotion boys!!! LMAO!!!

  • Tarmac492.1

I think it would work better as a show. Maybe get some depth of character. No way it can be modern day, however. Mofo’s would be filmed on every motherfucking block. I dont want to see this updated with tech, using GPS and other such nonsense. NYC is too clean now anyways. The best update of The Warriors was CIty of God.

  • Tarmac492.1

Diqus works as well as govt.

  • Tarmac492.1

I dont want this to be taking place now and have “Warriors, come out and play.” txted from one character to another and have the writer’s jerking each other off in the writing room, thinking they are so fucking clever. Clean up your dna, you fucking typist hack.

  • Stalkeye

You’re absolutely right about the City of God comparison!👍

  • Tarmac492.1

YOu and Bop need to write this remake. As long as Bop uses pussy lotion boys again!!! LMMFAO at that still. I can just picture a bunch of pasty hipsters who never looked like they picked up anything heavier than an iPad throw down with all these jacked up, Melrose Place versions of villains. Please!!!

  • Tarmac492.1

Besides Eastwood’s kid, after seeing all the names they are throwing out to play Han Solo I am convinced no one in Hollywood today ever saw Star Wars, much less The Warriors.

  • Tarmac492.1

I was hoping the Russo Bros would do a remake of The Remains of the Day.

  • Bop

Casting is a disaster these days. What Hollywoods thinks is a tough guy or a cool guy is quite embarassing.

  • Bop

Piscopo would beat the shit out of those pussy lotion boys while having one arm tied behind his back.

  • Tarmac492.1

This is why they have sadly kept Piscopo from so many good roles. Piscopo would crumple these casting directors like empty soda cans.

  • Captain Genius

i wanna see what the pussy lotion boys gang outfit looks like

  • Stalkeye

    ROTF, remember this?

  • Stalkeye

I’m suppossed to do a lot of things nowadays. (:”
    Sounds like a promising idea.
