This week your Saviors of the Universe return with special guest, Supernaught co-founder, and former host of this very show, Abe! Since we wrecked his MaSter Debaters YouTube show last week, we beam him aboard the Battle-station to return the favor!

After catching up, we ponder how to fix or tweak certain movies to our satisfaction with simple dialog adjustments, and talk about fandoms we’ve abandoned for whatever reasons!

We run down IAB’s Spinning Headlines, and we Randomly Review the Netflix Original Series, The Get Down!

This episode is fresher than DMC’s Addidas!

  • Dee-abolik

    Three Stooges talk…. wtf.

  • Dee-abolik

Indiana Jones might be absurd, but the scene with the submarine is a serious plothole and comes over as lazy (I know it wasn’t), I agree with Abe.

  • Turd Has Escaped The Gravy

Well, it’s only a plot hole by omission. Doesn’t a deleted scene exist where Indy ties himself to the protruding periscope with his bullwhip? Although, it’s also rather implausible that he could’ve weathered a long, choppy sea voyage in that state and that the submarine didn’t dive deeper.

  • Dee-abolik

I know, it exists! For the latter, I can rather accept an implausibility than a lack of continuity. Indy and friends jumping out of a plane with a raft might be silly, but if they had just cut from the exploding plane to them riding the raft down the slope without explanation, I’d be pissed!

  • Turd Has Escaped The Gravy

What about the three large waterfall drops in Crystal Skull? That’s the stupidest sequence in the whole series.

  • Dee-abolik

Wasn’t the worst part of the movie, in my eyes. That honour goes to the last 10 minutes.

  • Dee-abolik

But yeah, it’s a lazy sequence. They are just sitting in the car and scream as if it was a theme park attraction. No sense of danger at all.

  • Dee-abolik

    Would you say Tool-fans are….tools?

  • Dee-abolik

Yeah meeting other fans can be a sobering experience.

  • I_am_better

    It’s all Konami’s fault, really

“New Jack City doesn’t hold up” – whaaaaatttt?

  • I_am_better

Kyle, you really need to read the movie news on occasion

  • I_am_better

“patron saint of mediocrity” – ohhhh, snap

  • I_am_better
  • I_am_better

Ma and Pa Kent are really a couple of assholes in those movies, when you think of it

  • I_am_better
  • Oh damn, I have to download this since I had no idea when JR’s Podcast arrives.
Of course, I’m looking forward to what they have to say about Netflix’s Luke Cage!

  • I_am_better
  • I_am_better

Luke Cage-talk will be on next week

  • Slate_Fistcrunch

    I reject this answer.

  • Slate_Fistcrunch

    Zing!

  • Slate_Fistcrunch

    “I agree with Abe”
    Finally!

  • I_am_better
  • Slate_Fistcrunch

    I strongly disagree!

  • That should be the featured comment, Meng!

  • Jamil Google “Black Wall street” and you’ll realize how fucked up Tulsa, Oklahoma is.

  • Love the post credits idea for Civil War Jack, but Jamil is right about Strange being mentioned in The Winter Soldier.
Perhaps it couldve been fixed as you mentioned in your counter argument.

  • Agreed, Kyle! Fuck Konami!
It was Metal Gear NES that got me into videogames in the first goddamn place.
But i’ll still hold onto my MGS, Castlevania and Contra games!😜

  • TOOL is um..
Abe had one of the best lines “From gangsta to Geico commercials”.😂

  • Jack Randomm

Have you seen it recently? Hahaha!

  • Jack Randomm

I just listened to the first third, and feel the need to apologize. I let Fight The Power play entirely too long, and too loud!

    Sorry, peeps. I was slipping.

    Age, y’know.

  • I_am_better

Just a couple weeks ago. Yes – it is a definite product of it’s time, but outside of the Greek chorus of the street singers I still dig it

  • I_am_better

Fight The Power can never be played “too loud”!
    😉

  • Jack Randomm

The first street singers singing For the Love of Money is the classic R&B group The O’Jays.

When the camera comes back around at the end of the scene and song, it’s the group Levert, the O’Jays children.
Passage of time, and all that.

    It’s kinda cool, actually.

  • Jack Randomm

    Point.

  • Slate_Fistcrunch

I don’t think it cut me off much at all so I’m totally okay with it.

  • Slate_Fistcrunch

    Lemonade!

  • Fuck that! FTP is a claasic!
    “Muthafuck him and John Wayne”!

  • The term “African-American” is very pandering if not patronizing.
    Black sounds much cooler IMO

  • [email protected] rather vote for Cobra Commander.
Oh, if Dumbf wins, i’ll be rockin this tee fo sho!

I was doing a show at a club a few months ago and one of the other DJs snuck up behind me to snipe one of my secret weapons. “WHY THEY GOTTA DO ME?! WHY THEY CANT DO THEM! DAMN!” – Riley Freeman

  • I_am_better

    Sorted

  • KilliK

what was the point of the whole movie in the end? they found the aliens and then, what? the aliens leave and that’s it. what was the villain’s motive in the first place? in Raiders, they explain that the Ark holds great power and can make an army invincible. In KOTCS, they dont even bother to do that.

  • Jamill Payne

I had long conversation with someone telling me how mean that song was to Elvis lol

  • Jamill Payne

    Huh? What did I say?

  • Jamill Payne

You got a problem with the Stooges?

  • You don’t remember mentioning the Racist cop tulsa Ok shooting? (” That’s a big dude”.)

  • I go back and forth with Elvis.
Yes, his talents were courtesy of black performers however, he served as a gateway for more black artists to enter the mainstream.
He even mentioned that it’s James Brown who’s “The King”.

That meeting between him and Nixon is kinda suspect though.
