Detective Dee reviews movies and sometimes TV-series. He likes to indulge in the Asian cinema, exploitation flicks and the horror genre but is no stranger to Blockbuster culture either. He writes whatever he wants, but always aims to entertain.

  • Look forward to listening to this a bit later.

  • I look forward to your and Nick’s Best of 2014 lists

  • Going to have to wait another week. But doing a UHF episode this week.

  • christ on a popsickle stick

i love that film more than jesus

  • You love it more than you love Jesus or you love it more than Jesus loves it?

  • I will jump in on this as soon as I’m able.

  • Gary Busey lol

  • And for the record, I saw Interstellar between the recording & today, and I dug it

  • Dee as the spoiler-police cracks me up

  • RevengeofZodLovesMaude

Asimov will want to be your new best friend

  • “autopsy is better than Twilight…” Lol

  • I shoulda mentioned that Need For Speed was my guilty pleasure too. I think my mike was off

  • My connection is being hammered by bad weather. I have to download and listen i think.

  • Bad weather yeah. Lights are blinking here once in a while

  • Hah – the rifts started with Clive Owen…

  • “This should be good…” lol. I had a premonition of things to come

  • Very good. Too bad about the deleted scene though 😉

  • Is there going to be a different “Zod’s dog” in every episode article? 😀

  • I have to stick up for my man Clive Owen. Children of Men, Inside Man, Sin City, The International , Closer etc Of course now in The Knick. I would have preferred him over Cumberbatch to do Dr Strange.

  • Also I think Requiem for a Dream is a great film that i never want to see again. I thought The Wrestler was great, and Black Swan was not my kind of film, but it had good girl on girl action. I liked it.

  • I also never want to see it again.

  • Conserve your ammo for the Thunderdome

  • he better

    look out !

  • the guy shuld have been bond

fuck all the running and jumping bs

    bourbe runs and jumps

congrats bond you just copied jason bourne

  • zod needs to announce his dogs name shes a member

  • it was fun

    great fucking cast too

  • its a viggio quote from the prophecy

  • Alright! Let’s do this.

  • How’s your bitch? Already into this.

  • Breathing paint fumes and ruminating might be the greatest line ever.

  • Dio is never happy!

  • hahah! Hug Mark Wahlberg

  • Pirate this movie.

  • Razz has a few good one liners. and IAB does.

i will email dee shortly. this is a really good job

  • quote Lexi Alexander !

  • The one liners are killing it this episode.

  • Abe

  • Team Euro really brought it !

  • Iron Man 3 takes too much heat. It’s not a bad flick.

  • lots of fans cant get by the mandrian switch but i hate the end

  • IAB is right on with Days of Future Past. I thought it was going to be a mess too.

  • he makes films you dont always enjoy. i will subject myself to the biblical epic Noah before Dee and I debate

  • mother north !

  • alien autopsy

  • Fire him!

  • Brolin might not be a box office draw but that doesn’t make him a bad actor.

  • Dio goes a little too crazy about Game of Thrones.

  • I don’t think so either. I think he maybe really should not be cast in certain roles, as he always disappears behind his role, which may make him look “uncharismatic” in certain instances.

  • Found this picture that shows the lightning strikes from this joyest of nights

  • It’s funny because it’s true

  • So you never watched THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS, then?

  • Great to see RJD’s love for 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR.

  • Any movie that invokes the styleof the thrillers of the 70s is a winner for me. Thus, need to check out both Captain America: Winter Soldier and John Wick.

  • I am mispronouncing “Ghibli” the whole way through. Shame on me.

  • This was my favorite episode of BOPX ever.

  • I remember seeing some documentary where there’s a lot of interpretations of the pronouncing even in the Ghibli ranks

  • Thanks a lot, very appreciated! May also be my fave so far.

  • In the end, I pronounce it correctly. It’s based on an Italian word and based on the Italian pronouncing, I am right. But the Japanese katakana for Gibhli say “Jibli”, so I mispronounced their mispronouncing.

  • Mispronouncing a mispronouncing may result in a correct pronouncing

  • Via facebook!

  • It was fun to record, and it comes through in the result

  • I still want my Planet of the Apes musical.

  • It’s god punishing you for burning his churches !

  • Shoutout to Shut Up Kids. Woooooooooo!

  • “Vampire Academy isn’t looking so bad now, is it!” – RJD

  • It’s all about one-liners, lol

  • Doctor Zaius Doctor Zaius!

  • Noah is a great fucking film.

  • Requiem is amazing.
    The Wrestler is amazing.
And Razz to Ass is the best new catchphrase of 2014.

  • It’s got Stone Giants!

  • I thought I was going to hate it. I ended up loving it. I looked at it as a fantasy film and not a religious film and it just, I don’t know, clicked with me.

  • Some parts worked for me, some parts didn’t.

  • Good show everyone. Fun discussion and more shit for me to add to my list to watch…

  • Its in my Top 10 of the year. Would like to watch it again since I did watch it on a plane the first time, ha.

  • You should do a top ten “films I saw in a plane”, lol

  • Vampire Academy?

  • It has Gabriel Byrne in it!

  • Ha, that’d be great! I watched 11 on my trip to/from Hong Kong – probably saw a good 20 films on planes this year.

  • Not 20 good films, though.

  • Yes sir.

I swear …for what it is … it aint bad

  • This does not.bode.well for dees debate.

  • That was thr most organic one.liners run ive heard

  • 70s baby

  • I like it. And the game.of.bones

  • No I agree.

    Gangsta squad makes.him.a.bad actor

  • There.can be only one !

  • Norway woooooooo!!!!!!!!!

  • Haven’t seen John Wick or PotA yet.

  • 1. The air is thin up there.
    2. I knew you were high when watching that film.

  • I am not impressed by the aggregate opinions.

  • I think the “deleted scene” from the beginning, and the hysterics it caused, managed to break the ice and just let us all loose

  • Noah is fucking garbage.

  • Captain America 2 is great. That’s about it though, nothing special.

  • Yup, Singer sucks. Vaughn would have made DOFP amazing.

  • Still haven’t seen either Raid film, gonna watch both back to back over the holidays maybe.

  • Everybody was bad in Gangster Squad. Everybody.

  • Perfect christmas entertainment for the whole family!

  • Penn was so bad it was good.

  • McConaussance, gold!

  • It’s got tits.

  • I guess the best film I’ve seen so far this year is Cold in July. I think.

  • lol people crying at TWD finale death. It was dumb as fuck.

  • Best TV seasons were Fargo and Hannibal. FACT.

  • Also one that most of us hadn’t seen, I think

  • Yeah, I’m behind badly this year though. I have a list of about 15 movies I have to watch before I even consider doing a best of 2014 contribution. Cold in July might still end up #1 though, it’s fantastic.

  • Worst I’ve seen is probably Noah.

  • Clive Owen is awesome, you fuckers are retarded!

  • It was as if a bad guy from Dick Tracy walked into The Untouchables.

  • You have good taste.

  • You have bad taste.

  • And those two movies I like. Gangster Squad is garbage

  • Supernaughts is not the only debate show here….

  • Shoot ’em Up is brilliant!

  • YES!!!!

  • Struck me as cinematic cack.

  • Children of Men, Inside Man, Closer, Trust, Sin City, etc. Been in tons of good stuff.

  • It was a Looney Toons action film and it that regard it was flawless.

  • Rodriguez does it better.

  • Not anymore

  • The guy who made Shoot Em Up has no flawless filmography either.

  • No.

  • Whatchu talkin’ bout man 100 Girls is a classic. =P

  • 100 Girls? Is that the title of DiCaprio’s next nightclub visit?

  • Noah isn’t even a bible movie, it’s fucking bullshit environmentalist garbage.

  • Noah is pro-vegetarian asswipe.

  • Batman & Robin was a better film than Amazing Spider-Man 2…

  • Hopefully it’s documented.

  • Possibly. Haven’t seen it yet, but B&R at least has Clooney being Clooney.

  • Truly, does i have to chose between the two? Because i could go very well without any of them,

  • I cannot even choose a lesser evil.

  • Noah is crazy!! There is some really misguided ideas in the middle of some interesting artistic ideas. I wrote a review for that movie and i couldn’t stop cracking jokes about it.
It is the only movie by Aronofsky i can’t truly like, no matter what.

  • I don’t even know what to call it.

  • And don’t forget THE KNICK, where he’s brillant in it.

  • I’m sorry to say but your opinion of Aronofsky is misguided in all things… except Noah. Man, that movie does feel like a joke being pulled on us. I couldn’t stop laughing when i watched the movie, laughing or rolling my eyes.

  • I haven’t seen anything in that movie I have not seen done better elsewhere.

  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2 by far.

  • Yeah wait for my debate with RJD. I have to save my arguments for that.

  • What disapointed in that movie was that it loked so banal, so much like any typical blockbuster. I wish the movie had been crazier, even if it was some cray religious screed. But that it was just crazy and unique in it’s artisticity. But instead it’s middle of the road and… a vegan pamphet?

  • They are both major evils.

  • It’s a judgemental milquetoast movie without fire. Terrence Malick should slap Aronofsky for stealing from him as well.

  • RJD is killing in this podcast.
My only disagreement is in regard to Josh Brolin, he is too harsh on him. I used tot hink he was bland, until i saw him in Planet Terror, and i was awed by his (and everybody) preformances in No Country For Old Man. I like him uite a lot now, and if he ever missteps, i would rather blame the director instead.

But other then this, RJD is in a roll!

  • In your corners, gentlemen.

  • Brolin’s probably just one of those guys that needs finely detailed direction to coax a good role out of him.

  • Or a director who knows what he’s doing.

  • Josh Brolin is a good actor. He is just not the actor who is suited for larger-than-life roles. He is better when he can fully merge with the character. Brolin was the only good thing about MiB3.

  • Yes, I meant to mention The Knick even though I haven’t started watching it yet. Word of mouth on it and him is very, very promising.

  • I fully agree with you about MI3. His performance as a young Tommy Lee Jones was uncanny.
And in the trailers of Inherent Vice, he looks like he’s going to be a blast watching him in the film.

  • The show is UTTERLY AWESOME! It’s so good, it feels like the second coming of True Detective. It rraly is that good. And the soundtrack is beyond good!!

  • I thought he was great as George Bush. Movie sucked, but he did a fine job.

  • True.

  • Can we send out a search party to find Oliver Stone’s balls?

  • You know why? B&R is so campy, that it kinda embraces it’s own stupidity – ASM2 is just stupid. Period.

  • Yup

  • I just realized, that Robert Rodriguez started to go haywire when he stopped using film

  • I recorded myself reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas for the Xmas podcast submission but I didn’t like it so I deleted it. Needed to change my voice more between the narrator and the Grinch. If I have time I’ll try again, but don’t think I will.

  • Please try, tomorrow is the deadline, and submissions are welcome

  • what about …. no never mind

  • The Willard

    Peroxide abuser
