Now that we discussed the movies around "Hannibal Lecter" the last week, Dan, me and Asi are finally going to discuss the series with... Breakfast on Planet X: Hannibal Lecter, Pt. 2 – The Series (+ interview with Hansi Oppenheimer)

This is Part 2 of our Hannibal Lecter special, and after we talked about the Lecter-movies last week, we are now going to discuss the new TV-series with Mads Mikkelsen in the lead!

Three avid Hannibal-fans, BOPX co-founder, editor and host Detective Dee, Dan from the Shut Up Kids!-podcast and Supernaughts-writer Asimov_Lives, gathered again to express what they love most about this bloody gem from the small screen.

Topics:
What we love about the series, who is our favourite characters besides Hannibal, the goriest moments, how we think it will be continued… and more!

And:  “Geek Amazons from Planet X- Episode VI”!

BOPX has a new series: In the upcoming weeks, we will present you interviews with women from the Geek Galaxy! The interviews will be attached to our regular episodes.

Cosplayers, actresses, female comic book fans and artists, geek models and more! We give you a glimpse into the female side of geekdom!

Our guest this time is Hansi Oppenheimer, director, writer and producer of documentary films. She is known for the documentary Color Me Obsessed, a documentary about the fans of the punk rock band “The Replacements”(now available on HULU!).

Her newest project is a documentary about “Fangirls”, called SQUEE!

Here are the details:

Who are Fangirls and what do they do? Squee! explores the truth in interviews with the smart, funny, creative women that proudly identify as FANGIRLS. Squee! is a love letter to Fangirls everywhere. This film debunks the common misconceptions and explores what it REALLY mean s to be a Fangirl.Including interviews with Flourish Klink, Cecilia Tan, Heidi MacDonald, Naomi Novik, Lynn Zubernis, Sandy Gremlina Manley, Emily Asher-Perrin, Tea Fougner, Carol Datura Riot, Kat Ell, Kristina Moy, Kelly Singco, Juli Mayers, Koi Fish Asylum, Mackenzie Barnett, Emily Audette, Kitten Slatko, Victoria Gonzalez, Victoria McNally, Cricket Lee, Becky Newman Fuller, Jenn Wotchertonks, Shyann Jie, Ming Chen, Jason Casey, Jeff Kober, James Tynion IV and more.

The feature film incorporates interviews into a narrative to illustrate the fascinating world of fangirls, and explore how the community supports and encourages creativity, collaboration & enduring friendships, alongside an examination of fan expression in transmedia (fanfic, fanart, blogging, cosplay, aca-works, fancrafts, etc)
We’re pretty close to wrapped on production (except for some additional b-roll and sound bites) are aiming towards a festival and four wall release date by end of 2015.
This is my 2nd feature documentary. My previous film “Color Me Obsessed: A Film About The Replacements” has done pretty well and is available on Hulu and other platforms. The film is an oral history of the seminal band as told by their fans. It has gotten largely great reviews, despite using no footage of the band or music and relying on fan stories to create a narrative.
I have a BFA in Video Production from SVA and have worked in the industry since the mid 90’s. While living in LA, I did  a lot of background work and have appeared in many shows including Dexter, My Name is Earl, Blue Bloods, Life on Mars, among others.
Our main portal for Squee! is our fb page at: https://www.facebook.com/fangirlproject
